I read three or four posts over at Sylas's thread - pretty indicting stuff. I have just a couple comments.
Many people here are aware I protect Brad McFall. I do this because I believe he has a mental disability. I base this on some hearsay information, and on my assessment of his writing based upon my own admitedly meager experience in the area of mental disabilities, though it is augmented greatly by personal experience.
The thought processes reflected in Desdamona's posts seem very familiar to me. I place myself in the forefront of individuals determined that people should not be punished for that which they cannot help. The evidence isn't even close to conclusive as to whether Desdamona might fall into such a category, but I think there is a possibility that we may be treating her unfairly.
That being said, Brad's presence here is a distraction. Old members usually ignore all but his most lucid posts, but new members are frequently confused on how to respond. Allowing more participants like Brad to have free rein is probably not a good idea.
I'm working on a software revision that will permit moderators and administrators more fine-tuned control over member participation, but the release date has still not been set, so what to do in the meantime? If the other administrators and moderators are generally in agreement, I can manually restrict Desdamona to
Free For All.
Opinions?
