Re: e-mail again
The kicked back email at this end says there's an unrouteable email domain, namely dedicated., which is the name of our server. I recently started using our server as our DNS server, too, and I'm sure this is the cause of the problem, but I can't seem to fix it. The software won't let me set up a reverse pointer for the server. If anyone has any ideas...

Re: e-mail again
Poking about on the Internet suggested adding an MX record, which I did. If they continue to kick back I'll find something else to try.

Could it be that the database is getting large and INSERTS are getting stacked up, since they can be very expensive depending on the indexes used.
The text search databases are on a per forum basis, and generally grow beyond 20MB, at which point I cut them down to deal with timeout problems, causing old threads to no longer be searched. But my performance testing was done in the test forum, whose search database is tiny. The search databases are opened using sysopen, locked with flock, then tied to a variable using using DB_FILE.
But I don't think the search databases are the cause of long unties, or the general slowness. Something changed about six months ago, I don't know what. Sometimes the system is as fast as it ever was, and that can happen any time of the night or day, but more often it's slow.
I'm back to working on the dBoard 3.0, which will move the message database, and the search capabilities, into MySql. Don't know when I'll finish, though.
