Re: Of course it is ... just as moral as ...
20 billion cultures that have hetero marriage
20 billion cultures?
We're supposed to have been around for, like, 6000 years, right? So what's that, like... almost 3.5 million cultures cropping up and dying out a year?
It'd be cool if they were all still around! We'd have more than three cultures for every man, woman, and child on the planet!

Re: Of course it is ... just as moral as ...
just because a few small oddball depraved cultures over the last few millennia
If I'm not mistaken, (and I might be,) aren't you YEC?
Wouldn't "the last few millenia," in your eyes, be a good hearty chunk of all time?

Re: Of course it is ... just as moral as ...
she's been flexible on the YEC bit before
Fair enough.
a "millenia" is a thousand years.
Yeah, I know. So if the Earth is only 6,000 years old, "a few millenia" would be at least half of all time.

Re: A few millennia
A "few millennia" is three or four wouldn't you say?
Yes. So, as I say directly above your post, a "few millenia" would be, in the eyes of a YEC, at least half, if not a majority, of all time.
so what is all this carrying on about my being "flexible" about my YEC position?
*shrugs*
RAZD said you were flexible about it. If so, fair enough... my point's irrelevant.

Re: A few millennia
But I'm not flexible.
Okay. RAZD was wrong.
I just don't understand why you thought there was something odd about my remark about a few depraved cultures in a few millennia.
Because you seem to be saying "a few millenia" as if it's a drop in the bucket. But if gay marriage has been around for the majority of time, then statements about how your definition of marriage has the weight of history on its side fall a little flat.

Re: A few millennia
An extremely rare incidence of gay marriage only shows the fallen nature of the human race, while the vast majority case being hetero marriage demonstrates that that's the norm.
You wanna go for numbers cool. I'm always up for a good appeal to popularity. But you might want to leave duration of time off that argument.
A few millennia puts it since the Flood anyway.
Wasn't that when the really freakin' wicked were wiped off the planet?
