On the one hand, I believe that these people should be able to protest whatever the heck they want, the police or lawmakers shouldn't stop them because free speech is their right. That being said, however, as a private citizen and someone planning on joining the USMC I would beat the crap out of anyone that protested at one of my buddies’ funerals.
Well, ok, so you think that lawmakers should allow social chaos and fighting in the streets to protect the right of bigots to verbally harass grieving families?
Don't get me wrong. My moral calculus rates "preserving freedom" pretty highly, as does yours, obviously. But choosing the public taking the law into their individual hands over a reasonable restriction of protest based on location and not on content? Minus fifty DKP!

I think a lot depends on what specifically the laws are stating with regards to the restrictions of the protests. If it is to allow no protesters within, say 100 ft of the cemetery then I am fine with that. What I am worried about is the banning of protest far outside of the funeral.
It's my understanding that the relevant legislation is proximity-based. I couldn't tell you what proximity, though.
