A realistic value for viscosity at the core is probably at least several orders of magnitude higher than the geological community is prone to use in models (approaching viscosity of water at atmospheric pressure) in support of geodynamo theory.
Ah, but the measured viscosity of molten iron at the core-mantle boundary is 0.016 Pascal-seconds, 16 times the viscosity of water at room temperature. Calculations
in this pdf have it as much as 20 times that at the inner-core boundary. Less than pudding, in other words.
