This is a very important point and I'm glad you brought it up since it gives me a chance to talk about one of my favorite subjects. We DO forget how quickly things change. Even the idea of the year starting on January 1
st. is a very recent phenomenon. The idea of uniform time is actually a post US Civil-War phenomenon and didn't come about until we had a high volume national rail system.
