A strong belief in the Bible isn't enough.
It has to be a strong belief in a particular interpretation of the Bible, combined with a lack of education in Biology.
Religiously-maintained ignorance is required, especially for the rank and file.
Well, obviously with Creationism this is required, but it is also required for much of the NeoCon agenda; religiously-maintained ignorance of where terrorism really comes from, of the reality of global warming, of human-caused environmental degradation, of patriarchy, etc.
