The "Posts of the Month" forum index page. These topics listed at the above page are still available for additions.----- Now for March 2004 (as per previous months):
quote: Please post your votes for the March, 2004, Post of the Month here. Include author, forum name, thread name, post number, eg: Name: Velvet Tongue Forum: Evolution Thread: I'm no monkey Post #: 17
A link to the message, and perhap a SHORT comment would also be nice. But, this is NOT a place to debate the referenced topic - so be nice. I think that a fairly liberal use of this topic would be a good thing for indexing some nice messages that are otherwise doomed to be lost in the clutter. So, if you encounter a message that seems to say something of special substance, please give it a plug/reference in this topic. New month, same old message and routine, Adminnemooseus

TruthLover Someone actually defending Christianity with a reasonable, not hysterical sounding approach and even recognizing that it can be, in the wrong hands, a source of ill as well as good.

Two about scientific methodology
I've let at least a few possible POTM quality messages slip by, but here are two that I am going to flag. Both deal with scientific methodology. ----- Name: Quetzal Forum: Faith and Belief Thread: Quetzal, here's why I believe in God. Post #: 9 A pretty massive message, with a lot of real content. ----- Name: Chiroptera Forum: Welcome, Visitors! Thread: was there enough time? Post #: 14 Perhaps a little flawed, which was discussed later in the thread. But I really liked the closing paragraph:
quote: Mathematical models and calculations never ever trump real life observations. And the heirarchical classification of life, the fossil record, modern molecular biology, and so forth provide real life observations that show evolution has occurred.

Mr. Hambre Intelligent Design Behe's Irreducable Complexity is Refuted Post # 86 I really liked this post. I felt it really hit on a sense of the uselessness of human endeavor that seems to characterize the Intelligent Design movement.
Maybe I'm wrong in taking the reptilian-jawbones-to-ossicles homology to be just the sort of key someone like Behe could use to unlock these closed doors, but unfortunately Behe has decided to make a career out of declaring them to be shut for good.

I'm nominating this post not because it is a great post, but because it seems to me condense all the fallacies, misunderstandings and conspiracy theorism that characterises the Creationist movement in one fairly well-written post. Thanks minnemooseus, you're very kind. Boston seems to have a hunger, and I have a big soft spot for young people who show an inclination to want to learn. Amlodhi

Name: Sylas Forum: Big Bang and Cosmology Thread: How Big are the Stars? Post: 224 A fantastic post about early-universe cosmology. Clearly the result of much time and research. Of course it's lost on Arkathon, who is impermeable to science. Moreover I'm certain nobody's paying attention to the thread now. In other words, just what Posts of the Month are for. Save the link to this one, Sylas, or cut-n-paste it to a file. I'm sure you'll need to use it again because hardly anybody's going to see it this time. We now return you to your regularly scheduled "How Big are the Stars", where my attempt to play "pin the tail on the definition of kind" with Arkathon is already in progress...
