We used Keurig K-cups in a Keurig unit for years, then switched to grinding our own coffee and putting it in Keurig reuseable K-cups. A Keurig unit only lasts about 3 or 4 years for us, so by the time the last one died we'd got tired of the Keurig nonsense of trying to detect whether a valid K-cup (i.e., one who had paid them a licensing fee) was being used and not making the coffee if it decided it wasn't.
So we bought a Cuisinart K-cup coffeemaker. Unlike a Keurig it doesn't have to heat up a reservoir first. It has an instantaneous heat kind of design, and it doesn't care what kind of K-cup you use. The reusable K-cup that comes with it is deep and holds a lot of coffee.
I like strong coffee, so I buy pre-ground espresso coffee. I estimate I pay about 10¢ or 20¢ a cup.
