Re: Hillary? Ack!
Your zeal makes you easy to brush off.
Your stance requires the acceptance of facts you haven't established here, other than with the spray of a zealot's links, as well as opinions that must seem as natural to you as breathing by now, but aren't to others.
There's really only one response to the ultimatum of 'agree with me or you're a moral monster'.
It's short, pithy and Anglo-Saxon. Modesty forbids.

Re: Hillary? Ack!
Say something once, why say it again? Oh, why not.
I didn't ignore Admin's warning--I critiqued your tactics, not your person. I admire your intentions and share many of your political analyses, but your totalitarian ultimatum--agreement or shame--is, as I said, insulting and counterproductive. Allies are not clones, and I respond to your moral and emotional blackmail the same way I do to any other.
You poison your own well, dronestar, and appear to be blind to that fact.
You do not make a case: you toss a salad of assertions and links, and now, like Big_Al, tell me to go do research, rather than support your own assertions. I know that work is not nearly as much fun as ringing statements, but it's work you're supposed to do--not just in this forum, but in life.
You appear passionate, but only about denunciations, not about persuasion. Apparently, the only error you may have made, by your lights, was to overestimate the moral and intellectual integrity of me and others here.
There's something familiar about your tactics. Can you see just a little bit of Mr. Trump in your mirror?

Get ready
I'm settling in to watch the GOP primary debate, medicinal whiskey ready at hand.
One of these guys will likely be the next president--might as well start building the brain calluses now.
8:01 EST: Aw, jeez, intro moderated by FOX xenophobe in chief, Lou Dobbs.
8:20 Man, the Fox talking heads love 'em some Trump! Just in case, they kinda like Cruz.
8:24 Fiorina declared in the undercard debate that "You would pay to watch me fight Hillary!" Well, no, I'd pay to watch her fight Andre the Giant, though. Anyway, Fox has declared her the Winning Loser.
8:29 "Hillary wants power!" Fiorina declares disdainfully. Guess she only wanted money, the power to destroy corporations was only incidental.
8:36 Fox Pet General is outraged a sailor would apologize for violating Iran sovereign territory. Must have been Obama.
8:40 Every web commerical break starts with an AARP ad challenging candidates to explain what they would do to strengthen Social Security. Not ironic...I don't know, maybe just melancholic.
8:46 Nicki Halley is toast: she's in trouble "and deservedly so" says Dobbs. She conceivably offended Trump with her counter to the SOTU, where she criticized angry voices. Run, rabbit, run.
Hey, this is harder than it looks. Sorry for the mess.
8:50 Fox has totally turned around from its past stiffness with Trump: "The GOP establishment just doesn't get it!" A possible schism in the GOP is the small comfort of this election.
8:56 Priebus, the non-carbon based vehicle of the RNC, says, "We'll support anybody!" We know. He also salves Hally; maybe she won't say they told her to attack Trump.
8:58 Candidate take the stage: 4 red ties, 3 blue. All white males. Just sayin'.
9:00 I understand the live audience is prepared to thump the moderators and throw them out sans coats. Don't expect that will be necessary.
I'll stop here. No, don't beg. I need both hands to drink.

Yeah, I figured I wouldn't have to pony up.
She looks like she has problems with bad smells, though. Andre might do all right, dead and all.

Re: Get ready
I can't believe I watched the entire debate of the damned last night, but can now declare a preference for the fade-to-dark heat death of the universe to a cyclic collapse and rebirth. I never want to do that again.

If it weren't for the fact that Republicans basically piss off and kiss off large sections of the electorate, by now we'd have 8 justices who we cannot stand instead of 4.5 wingnuts.
We've had a couple of election cycles to sort this stuff. Obama is not eligible anymore, and the people who've risen to the top don't pass the smell test unless we've comparing them to Trump and Cruz. That's our fault.
If everyone who voted for Obama in 2008 and 2012 had showed up for both mid-terms, we'd be looking at a different world.
Many (including me) are bitter about 8 years of absolute obstructionism from the GOP in Congress. If everyone who feels that way had showed up to vote in mid-terms, the GOP wouldn't have had the opportunity.

Politics abhor a vacuum quite as much as nature. As last night's debate again demonstrated, the worst among us have rushed to fill ours.

Well I have argued that this is the best way to select the house of representative members, ... you know - the one's who are most supposed to represent the people rather than the state or the nation (or party or corporations).
Set the total at 450 members and draw names from citizens that file income tax returns, with 150 chosen every year for a 3 year stint.
I'd prefer to draw names from voting rolls--too many poor people don't have to file returns.
And restrict Powerball to voters. That'll wake 'em up on election day.

That is, for better or worse somewhat depending, the most brilliant idea I have seen in a long time.
Spaced a few minutes apart, I again noted Coyote's Heilein quotes and saw the numbers on the giant Powerball buys, recalled Heinlein's idea of only vets voting...and shazam!
