Xbox One owner
Bought a Day One Xbox One and have been enjoying it immensely. For the record, the PS4 looks like an awesome rig as well and I do game on my PC as well.
For the Master PC Race, please tell me what resolution you are running Forza 5 at, or Halo. The reason I have both is that I enjoy the gaming experiences tailored to both. That, and the Xbox One is a capable media device that has the type of plug-n-play that no PC can match. I suppose I could hook my PC up to my projector so that I can have a 110" PC display, but it just seems like too much hassle at times.
There are glitches in both systems, so early adopters beware. If you want a nearly pain free system wait for about 6 months.

Re: Xbox One owner
I am waiting a year, just to be safe. Will enjoy my XBox360 up til then.
Another reason for waiting is I want to see how well new games for both consoles are being received by gamers. I myself am a huge fan of Halo, but even for me, the franchise is getting somewhat stale. If Halo 5 coming out next year gets rave reviews, that may be enough to warrant the purchase of an Xbox One. I am also curious to see how good Titanfall is.
Otherwise, most other games that peak my interest are available on both consoles.
Waiting a year will definitely save you money, and there should be a strong roster of games for both consoles at that point. I would fully expect that there will be strong exclusives for both consoles, so it really comes down to which ones interest you the most. Then all you have to do is wait for the end of that console generation, by the other console, and then play all of the exclusives you felt you were missing out on.
Rabid fanboyism aside, both are really good consoles if you are into console gaming.

Re: Xbox One owner
Even as an XBox360 owner, I am still quite irked about all that asinine nonsense Microsoft tried to peddle during their rollout. No used games, always connected to the internet, mandatory Kinect, etc.
Now while they have backed away from most of those, my suspicion is that most of the code to turn those features back in is probably still in the operating system of the unit. So I would be worried that after buying one, Mr. Softie decides to 're-activate' those capabilities. Maybe I am just being paranoid, but Microsoft so thoroughly screwed the pooch with this rollout, I wouldn't put it past their idiotic marketing department to try to peddle that nonsense again after they have gained critical mass.
If you want to judge a console by restrictions that they never enforced on a single gamer, then that is your choice. I tend to look at what the console actually offers and the actual restrictions. Perhaps that makes me the minority. I don't know. All I know is that there is a group of gamers that have this overpowering sense of entitlement that just doesn't make sense to me.

Re: Xbox One owner
I think, during college, downloading Day 0 games on the Scour Exchange and playing them on a modded Playstation before we could walk to the store and buy one, oh and playing crazy Japanese games that they don't even sell in the US, kinda spoiled me as to what I feel like I'm entitled to.
That's not really what I am talking about. My school of thought is that different companies offer goods, and you choose the goods that best fit your needs. Then there are those that think companies should do exactly what they tell them to do, or else.
But, really, if you bought a CD and you couldn't listen to it in your friends car, dontcha think you'd be a little peeved about that?
The original Xbox One policies were similar to Steam's policies, and less lenient in some instances.

Re: The Duopoly
I'm not trying to defend against Microsoft's stupidity. But the Digital Rights Management wasn't really something that was being advertised. People dug through the policy and discovered them.
MS was very upfront with the DRM policies they were proposing. They had a webpage that explained all of it. All that existed before that was speculation, some of which was wrong.
But the internet saw through the bullshit and called them on it. DRM is to protect the company's profits by limiting the ways people can enjoy games besides going out and buying them.
Companies are trying to make a profit? Say it isn't so!!

Re: The Duopoly
Or else what?
Or else they will spend hours on internet forums repeating the same whines over and over.
Steam has never sold discs. DRM makes sense without physical data.
Quite right, which made the original Xbox One policies a leg up on Steam. The whole vision of the original Xbox One policies was to treat discs the same as you would a download to get around problems with data caps and slow connections.
But they were trying to act like they were implementing them to make the good better for us. That was a lie.
This is the whining and entitlement I was talking about.
Its not the end that was the problem, it was the means.
I just found it funny that everyone thought Steam was so wonderful, but when a console moved towards the same policies it was the end of the gaming world.

Re: The Duopoly
People don't want to be ripped off and lied to... fuck them, right?
Yes, these poor people are being exposed to companies claiming that they have improved their products.
People like to share discs on consoles. Microsoft tried to prevent that to make more money. It was a dick manuver. People called them out on it.
I just saw a bunch of spoiled gamers. I guess our views differ on this one.

From what I can tell... PS is running away with it.
McDonald's outsells PF Chang. Doesn't mean that McDonald's has better food.

Re: Another Update
PS4 does not have Forza Motorsport. Nuff reasons for me
Add Halo to the list, and that is what made the decision for me. However, I will be buying a PS4 in a few years when the price drops. PS4 has exclusives I want to play as well, but just not as pressing as the Xbox exclusives.
