Re: We Are All Role Models
I don't see anything wrong with wanting to keep your race and culture strong.
That would depend on how this is enforced. If it's simply a desired suggestion by the parents like "It would be nice if you married an Indian women, son, but it's up to you" then I guess that's cool.
But if it's enforced against the will of the individual like "You have no choice in the matter" then it's not cool.
I mean, the whole point of the gay marriage debate is that individuals have the right to choose who they want to marry. Taking away that right, be it heterosexual marriage or gay marriage, is wrong. The individuals rights should be protected under any circumstance. To me, forcing your son or daughter to marry who you say they have to marry is just as bad as denying a gay people the right to marry their partner of choice. It comes down to denying an individual their right to choose their spouse.

Re: We Are All Role Models
Looks like we agree that having an opinion like that isn't bigoted.
Wanting to keep your race and culture strong is not automatically a bigoted opinion, I agree. But, certain actions to ensure that your race and culture are kept strong can be considered bigoted.
Like not wanting, or to an extreme, not allowing someone to marry on that basis, for example. There are other ways of preserving your race and culture that don't deny someone their individual rights.
So then polygamists should be included too. Why do they seem to have been pushed to the back of the bus?
I personally don't see anything wrong with polygamy, so long as it's not with underage girls. The west doesn't recognize it, I don't really know why. Be it religious prejudice or some kind of tax issue with too many people married together. But I do support their rights to polygamy.

Re: We Are All Role Models
ent: We would prefer that you date that Jesus fella and spend a nice quiet night at home until you marry a good girl, but if you prefer partying like a rock star, doing bongs, and having group sex, we respect that you are an adult and you are still our son! (WTF?)
Are those the only two options people have? Date Jesus or do bongs and have group sex?
How 'bout:
quote:
Parent: I respect your right to date who you like and hope that you make good decisions based on what we've taught you.
Isn't that better?
But, in any case, partying like a rockstar, doing bongs and having group sex is fun. I don't recommend you always do it, but don't be such a prude and try it once or twice. Life seems boring otherwise.

PS: Doing bongs...?

Re: We Are All Role Models
Yeah, I don't get it either. Why are they being left in the dust?
I think they get associated with pedophilia because of that one sect of Later Day Saints. Also, there might not be enough of them to make themselves be heard. It takes loud voices and action to change minds.
Really? How so? What are you doing to include them?
I'd argue equally for their rights as I do for gay marriage. I don't really do much for anyone else other than that.

Re: We Are All Role Models
Lets put this in terms you understand.
Oh please, make it about titties!
Now...does that right that they have negate your concern as to what their preferences and choices should be?
Your individual concern for someone elses life is not negated, no matter how irrational or bigoted the concern is.
Do you support their rights to gluttony? Lets say their sin was less severe...say it was vanilla wafers...in moderation.
I think it's wrong that products like that are advertised as they are to children, and in many cases are often advertised as a healthy option - such as fat free Oreos. I think people should be educated on proper eating habits. But, I support your right to do whatever you want to your body. But my concern has evidence to back it up. My concern is not irrational or bigoted.
The only concern I'd have is how it affects the overall cost of healthcare system that I also need to use. If you're fucking with my money then I gotta take issue. I have been called out for being prejudice to fat people before though.
We take our lumps when we present our opinions, I guess.

Re: Communion
Idol: 3. a person or thing devotedly or excessively admired.
- someone who is adored blindly and excessively....matinee idol
heartthrob - an object of infatuation
Is this what you really think about blow jobs? Have you ever recieved one? No one is excessively admiring or blindly adoring anything. It's about providing pleasure to the person you're with.

Re: Communion
When we ourselves see ourselves as higher than God and when we declare that God Himself is a product of human imagination, we essentially worship our own intellects...and deny the truth.
Interseting - you seem to just know something is truth, have no evidence to support that claim, then claim we're the ones worhipping our own intellect.

Re: Communion
Its also interesting how angry people get when i point that out!
I don't get what there is to be angry about. You just pointed out that you yourself worship your own intellect.
