Having been a zombie fan for a while now, I have compiled a list of 3 top things that you need to know to survive a zombie apocolypse.
(1) Don't just stand there, scream, and let them get a hold of you.
(2) Don't just fucking stand there, fucking scream, and let them get a fucking hold of you.
(3) Don't just mother fucking stand there, mother fucking scream, and let them get a mother fucking hold of you.
The next director to use character stupidity to forward his movie theme I will hunt down and kick his ass so hard that they will have to take both of us to the hospital to take my foot out of his ass.

George Romero's latest Diary of the Dead made me want to hit my tv with a hammer. The characters in there were stupid enough to leave the gates and doors open for the zombies to come inside. They had several hours to make their place a fortress against zombies. That mansion had an outter gate, big heavy doors, and a "panic" room. Not only that, it probably had weeks worth of food. You know what the dumbasses did the first thing they found the place? One of them decided to take a bubble bath, one decided have some fun with a zombie, one wanted to film the other one having fun with a zombie, one decided to take off on her own and ended up getting shot by a redneck, and the rest just sat around waiting for the zombies to swarm the place, which was several hours after they started sitting on their butts. When the zombies finally came, they retreated into the panic room.
I mean, what the hell kind of character stupidity is that? Am I to believe that real people are that stupid in real life?

Attention to detail, my friend. Attention to detail.
That's your homework.

Might as well give you a hint.
You need to watch it all the way to the end and pay attention to the pictures! You also need to refer back to night, dawn, day, and world. There is a common theme that Romero puts in his zombie movies.

Uh, that was her.
If you've noticed from the previous romero movies, the one theme that he kept consistent in all of them was the carelessness rednecks have when dealing with firearms and other people. In night, that black guy was shot by a redneck at the end. In dawn, rednecks were portrayed to have fun shooting at things and people causing distruction while laughing and joking. In day, rednecks had a total disregard for life and executed the scientists while joking and laughing. In world, rednecks again had a total disregard for life and carried out their duties while joking and laughing causing casualties among the innocents as well as themselves.
Look at that picture at the end again. It's clearly that girl. She wanted to make her way back to Texas so she had to go through hundreds of miles of redneck country. The picture showed her corpse as some kind of trophy. Now, look at it very carefully. Romero likes to put a lot of zombie makeup on his zombies. They are not the modern zombies where they look like you and I. Romero's zombies look like zombies even though they were people walking around just a few minutes ago. The corpse of that girl in that picture looks like a dead person, not a dead zombie.
You really have to remember that Romero likes to put social issues into his zombie movies. Among his favorites seems to be the degradation of society and how rednecks help speeding up the breakdown of society. Shooting innocent people in the chaos and presenting them as trophies seems to be another one of his favorites.
Added by edit.
You think it was a coincidence the picture at the end of the dead girl had the same dress on as the texas girl when she left the mansion?

I stand corrected. I just watched the ending of that movie again and for some darn reason it's completely different than what I remembered. Either I saw a different version of the movie a while back or I've been a victim of false memory syndrome.
Peace!

Aren't you glad I didn't pull out the fundamentalist card? "I don't care what that movie's ending looks like. I'm right and you're wrong!"
