Rob, it might be an idea if you stopped going on about topics which you clearly haven't got a very solid grasp of. Clearly thermodynamics is one of those.

Intelligence is not what is "keeping entropy at bay". The available energy of the sun is what is doing it.
​
We are, of course, slowly losing if you take a very big view.
​
As for why we want to learn anything: It is just as Doddy said "knowledge is good". I find it just feels good to learn things. It's better than a cold beer.
