He completely ruined the crucial point that all fossils are transitional forms by preceding it and emphasising that all people are transitional forms, which is wholey confusing and somewhat erroneous - no wonder Bashir started talking about what were we transforming into as we grew older...
He should have just mentioned fossils, with the tiny caveat concerning species about to go extinct, and then explained what he meant. Beautifully simple - should have even mentioned the practically continuous change and the almost arbitrary demarcation of different species, which would have shot dead the stupid pictures that Cameron brought up and any mention of dogs giving birth to cats. Could also have pre-empted macro and micro very successfully at this point.
But he didn't and was forced to retreat into saying that only "thousands" of transitional forms had been found and were in such and such museum. Sounds like a complete defeat on his previous point of ALL fossils being transitional...
