Re: Holmes, at the "Is there anything good about narcotic prohibitions?" topic
Thanks, and I might add that there is interesting (even if/when I disagree) posts from tusko (the thread's author), iano and others. It seems a pretty civil discourse on a hot topic.

Re: Omnivorous, at the "Is there anything good about narcotic prohibitions?" topic
Came here to recommend omni's post, found I had to second it. I will only note that if I had not been sleeping my response would have been the same and of equal quality... heheheh.

Re: Many people, at the "Is there anything good about narcotic prohibitions?" topic
Evidence that great messages feed off of other great messages.
Yeah, I think what's great is that they all seem to be compelling, without being overtly negative or meanspirited against those that they disagree with.
So far no POTMs have come in for those supporting drug laws and I want to make sure they understand that I think those have been well written to. Obviously I believe there are flaws in their arguments, as I am arguing against them... but they make their points in a very well written and compelling style. I don't feel bored or my intelligence insulted while reading them.
Maybe it needs a thread of the month.

Cartoons and common sense
This is sort of a dueling POTM nom. I found Mod's post, though very short, to cut to the chase of the issue. I think this is another thread where posts on both sides are doing well in arguing their case. Maybe this is a trend?
In contrast to moose's statement I don't think Pars's post fully covers how the issue should be explored, and mod's finally sentence raises a very important way of viewing the issue (one I had been trying and failing to raise in many more sentences... concise is better).
People can figure it out for themselves in the thread of course.

Re: Omnivorous, at "Death of a Scotsman (Re: the "no true Scotsman" fallacy)"
The last thing I need is that sharpshooter picking my arguments apart.
You are fast becoming one of my favorite reads, so its unlikely I'll come gunning for you. Often I feel you're like reading my own thoughts but with a smoother style. With the slowdown of Ben and RAZD you've certainly become my POTM (poster of the month).
Of course if I did come gunning, maybe that'd make a good read in and of itself.

Re: Holmes and Monsters Under the Bed
I'd decided on this nomination by the end of the second paragraph.
Cool... thanks. I did feel sort of perked when I thought of the analogy, glad to see it worked for someone else.
