Here is a brief article I found in the paper on Saturday, 19 November 2005. (I typed it in by hand so errors are mine)
Title: Vatican astronomer: “Design” isn’t science
The Vatican’s chief astronomer, the Rev. George Coyne, said Friday that “intelligent design isn’t science even thought it pretends to be” The ANSA news agency quoted him on the sidelines of a conference in Florence saying, “If you want to teach it in schools, intelligent design should be taught when religion or cultural history is taught, not science.” In a June article in the British Catholic magazine the Tablet, Coyne reaffirmed God’s role in creation, but said science explains the history of the universe.
I cannot quite decide if this is unexpected, but I do find it very interesting. Even the Catholics have figured this out. When will those twits and Pennsylvania and Kansas start to catch on?
edited to fix a typo (again)
