Re: The Light comes
To clear something up as Christians we are called to shed light onto all non-Christians.
Did Jesus sin?

Re: The Light comes
To answer your question Jesus was without sin until his death when he took on the sin of the world, where he then defeated death and rose again. Many use the temptation of Jesus to label him as a sinner but we are all tempted, the temptation itself is not sin, giving in to that sin is. Jesus is neither God nor man, he is a split being he is man but his tendancy's are God, in a sense hes God with limits (but these limits can be changed and altered as he sees fit). We see evidence of this split when Jesus cries out on the cross "My God, My God why have you forsaken me?" Jesus is looking for the God part of himself and finds that God and his other half has turned away in pain. The concept is difficult yes.

If Jesus did not sin then you seem to be denying that he was fully human remeber "all have sinned and come short of the glory of god".
If the god part left before the death then god did not die for you.

Re: The Light comes
God did not die no he sent his son to die for us which yes all fall short of the glory of God but from birth Jesus was with God, Jesus died with God turned away from him to feel the final pain, he died the way a man would die he suffered what man suffers. Jesus was not fully human, he was a human with divine nature. he is always devine and he is always human, hes not half and half, he is fully both. its an extreme understanding i dont understand it myself i was taught by my bible teacher/pastor this and many have agreed with this reasoning

The Bible: It's a powerful organization of redemptive words
If no *collection* of books speak to *you* (or to me) from God, why be so engrossed in the arbitrary linguistics: *THE* vs *A*?
Are you (or I, or others) trying to overthrow faith in a Gospel of Christ as confirmed by the supposedly *awkward* collection of *those* books?
Can you or I do better scriptures?
Would you or I (or anyone here) really like to see *God’s Word* destroyed, stampeded into the dirt, crucified, etc. with no resurrection power for our eternal salvation?

The point of the OP was to demonstrate that there is no such thing as THE Bible, I believe that has been achieved. The reason for the topic was that there are many people who think that the Bible is a straightforward collection of books, and that there are no problems in the text.
Are you (or I, or others) trying to overthrow faith in a Gospel of Christ as confirmed by the supposedly *awkward* collection of *those* books?
I can only answer for myself and I am not trying to overthrow anything. I am interested in the Old Testament as literature. I know for a fact that the early books of the OT are unreliable as far as accurate history goes. However, it does contain many clues about the societies that constructed the texts. The Old Testament has nothing to do with Jesus so I am not even touching on the Gospels.
Can you or I do better scriptures?
I believe I could! I certainly would have a lot less errors in my one.
Would you or I (or anyone here) really like to see *God’s Word* destroyed,
Depends what you mean, the Bible certainly isn’t held in as high regard as it was pre-renaissance. Science, history, textual and source criticism have certainly shown the Bible to be a collection of folk tales with the odd smattering of possible historical events.
stampeded into the dirt
Placed on the fiction shelf of the library would do for me.
with no resurrection power for our eternal salvation?
Well, since there is no such thing, what is the loss?
Brian.

Re: The Bible: It's a powerful organization of redemptive words
Brian! You behave. I DO agree with you wholeheartedly about the collection of manuscripts. I suppose that we could even start a new topic and call it The Canons: Spiritual or Political?
The Old Testament has nothing to do with Jesus
Assuming,of course, that Jesus is NOT our Messiah. If you are up for it, perhaps we could chat a bit? Meet me in chat.

Re: The Bible: It's a powerful organization of redemptive words
Hey Philip. Such an argument!
Philip writes:

Brian challenges us to think rather than wander. He espouses skepticism of supernatural faith because it has not proven itself in his life. That being said, he is an excellent teacher.
Can you or I do better scriptures?
He does not believe that The Spirit literally exists. Thus, a better book can be written!(Human potential)
Would you or I (or anyone here) really like to see *God’s Word* destroyed, stampeded into the dirt, crucified, etc. with no resurrection power for our eternal salvation?
If there were no Bible, would we be eternally confused? If anything, science and education force us to rely on more than just the Bible as a book for our faith.
