Having somebody to talk to about philosophical subjects is pleasant to me. I also like trying to write out my thoughts in a clear and concise fashion--very good for knowing if you really understand something.
Also, I've learned quite a bit of science here--for example, the proofs for TOE I think I can explain to others (I mean out in the real world) if they would but listen. Normally, they don't.

There is a lot of knowledge to be gained from this forum. I also learn a lot just by being forced to think out and post my own thoughts
Yes. the way you know if you understand something is to write it out in your own words. If you can't do that, then you don't understand it. I have irritated some people by paraphrasing what they said, but I did it in order to figure out if I understood what they said. I've stopped doing that lately though, because people don't like it.
I'm in Canada and he's in the UK.
Yes. I wish to be more cosmopolitan. Hard to do if one is a ditch-digger in Texas. But it is so pleasant to talk to people from around the world.
