Although I agree that gap of gender roles have certainly narrowed quite a bit in the last half of the century (I'm stuck in a time warp, I still think in terms of 20th century), I don't agree that the physical gap could ever end. There are biological traits in either sex that the other one doesn't have. For example, we know for a fact that men could never carry a fetus inside his... thing. The only way to really end the physical gap is to do what the Asgard did.
Ending the physical gap between men and women would make men and women more equal than ever before.

Although my personal gut instinct agrees with you completely, my objective side tells me that we should also present the opportunity for those that want to be completely equal. While I would agree, I do not think that societal/sociological gender equality should ever be a goal. Take the military, for example. Currently, there are branches in the military that are closed to female candidates. Although I agree with the military when they say that the physical limits of males are greater than females generally, I do not agree with them having a blanket rule that precludes all females. Why not set a solid line for the standards and let anyone/everyone through IFF he/she is able to meet those standards?
Who were your mentors and role models growing up, Troy?
Unfortunately, my father was my mentor and role model when I was growing up. It took me years to un-doctrinize myself. My father is a strong proponent of the Vietnamese tradition regarding gender roles. Extreme physical discipline was not beyond the limit. He also believes that women are nothing (his views of women are very close to that of Islamic fundamentalist view). I grew up thinking that because I was my father's son I knew everything there is to know. Why listen to my teachers if I knew more than them? Everyone who was not a Vietnamese man is considered inferior to me. Imagine going to school and looking down on everyone that was there because you were better than all of them. Anyway, only after I was only way to being fluent in English that I started questioning some of these beliefs. I must admit that I do have an anger management problem that I inherited from my father. Vietnamese men are not suppose to control their anger. Just shout out when you feel like it. It is something that has taken me years to bring under control.

In a hunting and gathering society, the the females often were the ones that gathered and took care of children while the males went out to hunt. This leaned toward female dominated societies because all the females were together while the males were seperated.
By the way, it should be noted that when the males go out for hunting, it was often days at a time. They didn't have guns either. I have noticed in the past that some people have trouble grasping the concept of hunting for days or that there weren't any gun. After farming was developed, the need for long range hunting parties became less and less important. This allowed the males to stay put within the clan more. As males were physically stronger than females, it shifted toward a male dominated society. The truth is the most noticable parts of recorded history consist of wars. While there are many things that could drive a civilization to its knee, war is the only thing that could be prevented. Who's doing the fighting? The men. This is why they became regarded as more important than women. What I just stated above was a hypothesis developed by my friend and I a long time ago.

By definition, the smallest unit that can evolve is a population. Why not? We have the power, and we will use it. If we make better people through genetic engineering, it's called "gattacarization" or some other damn thing, but it's not evolution.

Fair enough.
That's the Biological Evolution definition, but there are other kinds of evolution.
Cool; I learned a new word. Did they coin that after the movie Gattica or vice versa...?
Ha ha. Actually, I just pulled that word out of my...
So anyway... either by gattacarization or by cybernetics I'm pretty sure whole populations of humans (and eventually robots) will evolve themselves during the next century... unless of course Iran drops an EMP over everybody, or the NWO turns on Big Brother in full force or WWIII breaks out... etc.
I doubt we will ever have WWIII for one obvious reason: I will already have taken over the world before WW3 is remotely a possibility.

Will do. Actually, send all the guys this way. My dating pool here is a little low. have a few hundred girls rounded up and sent to my university where the guy to girl ratio is about 5:1. I'll tell you what, when I'm the supreme ruler of the world, you can have all the girls and I'll have all the guys.

Actually, women have more rights under the communist regime in Vietnam than they had under the so-called american demo system.
Let just say that I am a product of my parents' get-together for the first time in almost 7 years. When the communist party took over in 75, they imprisoned everyone that was in charge and everyone that was considered a threat. My dad was told to show up at a certain location to be transported to a "reeducation camp". They also told him to bring enough clothing for "1 week". That 1 week turned out to be 7 years. What do I think of the war? First of all, if the main players at the post world war 2 conference hadn't ignored Ho Chi Minh, he wouldn't have had to resort to going for the Soviets and Chinese for help. Heck, if the French would have kept their white arses out of SE Asia after the war, the whole thing would have been resolved a lot quicker. What do I think? The same thing as my dad: abandoned by the Americans. Nowadays Viet Cong propaganda wants the world to think that most Vietnamese wanted the Americans out of the war. I can assure you, from talking to a great many people, historians and people that were there, soldiers on both sides (north and south) wanted the south to win. Actually, my dad, while still in command, wanted the Americans to bomb the hell out of the north... but that's another story. The problem with the communists is that they put the most ignorant people in charge. When the communists took over the south, they wanted to destroy everything American. Since a lot of the food supplies were in storages built by the Americans, they burned everything down. After 75, there was a period when rats, crickets, and everything that was within reach began to disappear. Guess why. My brothers and sisters often have stories for me during those times. After 75, the children were told by their parents to sleep all day rather than play outside or whatever. Wanna guess why? I'm the lucky one. I came out after the whole ordeal was over and the country's infrastructure had been rebuilt. And what made you think I was 22-25?
