Rick, this is very important... I want you to make sure that in the rush to create a massive CGI blockbuster, the screenwriters don't lose the essential message of the books: never fuck with an armored bear.

"I know some of you are going to say 'I did look it up, and that's not true.' That's 'cause you looked it up in a book. Next time, look it up in your gut."
-Stephen Colbert

i's a student, and apparently a poor one. and a bad one. as such, i'm not going to be a student much longer. right now i have a part time job as a swim instructor. i'm actually a deck leader. woo middle management in the sun.
but in two months, i'm graduating and then i don't know what i'll be.
*crisis*
i think my studies help me a great deal here, but no one ever pays any attention to me anyways.

I'm a radionalytical chemist in a commercial lab. I test all kinds of things for radioactivity.
I'm particularly interested in the dating discussions (those seem to have died down), and generally in how one decides if ideas are true or not.
For fun I do wilderness hiking and canoe tripping, and renaissance music.

I had a girl friend who used to take great pleasure in showing me horrible pictures of diseased genitals, it really makes you think....."oh, fuck!"
Still, we can learn from other peoples mistakes.
Shudder.

I'm a chemist at a small oilfield chemical company. I do a tiny bit of research and product development, lots of talking to customers, some dishwashing, some sales calls, and some filling out forms for government agencies. I write product bulletins and Material Safety Data Sheets. I fart around on the Intarweb, typing with only my right index finger.
And I usually enjoy it all.

Yeah, dating topics does seem to be pretty thin on the ground lately.
Shame; it's a good area to bring reasonably solid evidence to the tabel. Hmm, maybe thats why there is no controversy anymore.

I don't know what I want to be when I grow up either.
Luckily, that doesn't seem to be happening any time soon.

I'm a "Stress Analyst" or "Stress Engineer"
working for a "Major Aircraft manufacturer". Making sure the wings are strong enough and don't break off.
What's it brought to this debate? critical thinking and a requirement for testable, repeatable evidence.
and a low tolerance for idiots.

I spent many years managing a group home for those with developmental disabilities, chronic mental illess, and traumatic brain injury. After major burn out hit, I quit, went back to school web programming and database development. I now work for Wisc-Online which is a part of the technical college I went to school at. I do some ASP, SQL, and Flash development.

Double Major at CU-Boulder. History and International Affairs.
play the bass guitar, rarely the bouzouki (that weird instrument on my profile picture before the bass), and used to play the euphonium (would still, but I don't have 5 grand to sink into a Wilsson. played the 2950 in high school, school owned, beautiful instrument, only one I'll play).
interested in science, music, history, politics, among others.
what does it bring to EvC? who knows.

I teach mathematics at a small regional college.
I'm not sure what that brings into the debate -- maybe a pedantry concerning logic. If anyone notices, I tend to focus more on the logic of peoples' arguments. It also used to be my schtick to demand from ID advocates some precise definitions and point out that without them they are basically babbling.

Yes I did it, but I don't do it anymore. There are those that claim they saw me doing it, but you know how how much they lie. After I finished doing it I did something else entirely unless it was fun and then after a smoke I did it again. Sometimes I did two whole things at the same time. During my lifetime I learned a bunch of things. One or two of those things were actually important and about half were interesting too. I was going to bring some of it to EvC but can't remember if I did. Should one of you find it could you please turn it in to lost and found.
