no wonder I've been so damn confused about you, TL.
coulda sworn you were a YECer, but your recent posts (that I've seen) were in total reverse--and I had the distinct memory that you were a YECist. so are, or are you not, a YEC? (hey, that rhymes with ICK. hmm, I wonder . . .) Want to help give back to the world community? Did you know that your computer can help? I was raised Catholic.
I used to work in a lab and wore a lab coat. In the movie Half Baked, when Thurgood is mopping up in the medical research lab and the one guys says something like "Excuse me Janitor". Then Thurgood replied, "Yes Scientist." I thought it was really funny. Also, I have a Bachelors of Science degree and was working in a lab employing the scientific method, I figured I could call myself a scientist. WRT evolution, as a Theistic Evolutionist, I wanted a name that reflected that belief, but was also accurate in who I was. Also, I'm a Gemini and do feel like I have two parts to me. One side is more of a believer and the other side is more of a skeptic, so I wanted the name to reflect them, which usually oppose each other. I think the EvC debate sometimes boils down to science versus religion. I support both sides. One thing to note is that I chose Catholic Scientist and not something like Scientific Catholic. I don't think I could reject something that is scientifically sound for a religious belief. I'm a scientist in my beliefs, but a Catholic one, not a Catholic in my beliefs, but a scientific one. I haven't really rejected too much dogma, as I can usually accept both the religious and scientific explanations, because they normally don't seem mutually exclusive to me, and I don't really mind hand waving that much.

so are, or are you not, a YEC? Full-fledged theistic evolutionist. Belong to a Christian community, share everything, live life for Christ all the time, but we're ready to admit it's obvious evolution is true all the way down to the Australopithecenes-Homo habilis-Homo Erectus-Homo Sapien chain. From goo to you by way of the zoo works fine for us.

This is pretty strange coz i just heard this song for the first time this weekend, and was gonna update my post to give the name of the song and the lyrics!
Thanks CS ABE: the song is pretty funny btw. Edited by U can call me Cookie, : No reason given. "The good Christian should beware the mathematician and all those who make empty prophecies. The danger already exists that the mathematicians have made a covenant with the devil to darken the spirit and to confine man in the bonds of hell." - St. Augustine

Saw this old one while looking through back pages.
We've seen a lot of new members. I like reading about how people came up with their name. Anyone want to share?

Well I've explained at least once I think, but here it is again.
I play World Of Warcraft, and used to play a Hunter character there (Now a Death Knight). And because they are generally known as "Huntards" I decided to use that as my alias. Also, I wanted to see how many people without argument would use my name and call me "retard", it only happened once. Thank you again CFO, for confirming my suspicions. I hunt for the truth

I thought huntards were kill stealers; do you have kill stealing on WoW?
Where you camp by campers and deliver finishing blows to steal the EXP from killing mobs? Also, have you noticed how WoW is a bit like 4th ed D&D? Edited by Larni, : No reason.

Finishing blow doesn't define who gets xp in WoW, but opening blow. Whoever deals dmg first tags the mob.
A huntard is someone who plays a hunter but has no idea how to play that class. There are players like that in every class, but hunters get picked by bad players a lot as it seems like a fun class. In reality it is a difficult class to play well and it can be quite obvious when you do screw up.

In reality it is a difficult class to play well and it can be quite obvious when you do screw up. They were absurdly powerful in vanilla WoW, and established a higher-than-average idiots : decent players ratio because of the perceived class strength. very similar to Rogues. Subsequent patches and expansions have levelled the playing field somewhat. Now, the idiots seem to have gravitated towards Death Knights, because they're cool. Yet another class that can be extremely strong when played well but is saturated with idiocy. I'm going back to my Warlock. And Champions Online - fun game, btw. Edited by Rahvin, : Goddamned smiley.
