Suggestions
Was I mistaken? Was your only suggestion that some are horrible?
I have suggested various propositions on this thread:
1. I suggested that America didn't seem all that Puritanical to me, and that perhaps we could do with a dose (a small dose, to be sure!).
2. I suggested that it is easy to be jaded in the modern world, and that being jaded is unhealthy.
3. I suggested that what I call "public sex" is repugnant to me.
4. I've suggested that prostitution and other sex-oriented businesses, at least in the States, seem a dirty business to me.
5. I also suggested that Amsterdam might be an exception (I don't know for sure). I tend to be in agreement with you that legalization of such practices might help them be less dirty (a la Prohibition), but I don't know if it would help to make them less prevalent. (I read somewhere that, whatever we might think of Prohibition, it did have some good health effects--not that I'm in favor of Prohibition, mind you!).
I think that's what I have suggested.

holmes can't stand to be wrong
quote:
Some do not effect what you can say about the rest. If you agree that there are some really bad strip clubs, and there are also some really good ones, and most fall somewhere in between, and that the some that are bad do not allow one to make a judgement on srip clubs in general... then we are in agreement.
Then we are in agreement.

Re: Suggestions
You know what I was asking for, so don't play this silly game. When you mentioned strip clubs and prostitution, was it to suggest that they were "dirty" or "negative" or "harmful" in general (that is the majority), or just that some of them were?

The majority.

Yeah, holmes likes his arguments accurately represented too.
yep.
So do me the courtesy of trying to get my position right. If you look back you'll see that if I made a mistake, it was an honest one. And you compounded it by arguing in a couple of different directions.
I could have no way of knowing you were jumping in to add a nonpoint to a discussion. I'm sorry I assumed you were trying to advance RRs point somewhere.

Well, alright then.
I let our history get the better of me, so I apologize for any jumping down of your throat that occurred.
