Shrafinator, my grandstanding aside, part of the reason for the discrepency is that career creationists were accountable for what they said publically whereas I was just spouting off-hand thoughts.
Having said that I am personally happy that most of my own suspicions have since become mainstream creationist pillars (time dialation, accelerated decay, good mutations). I am a career mainstream scientist so I will admit that some early creationists were a little too quick to denounce some mainstream scientific findings. But I still admire their steadfastness and prefer to equate it with strength of faith rather than 'head in the sand' behaviour although some of the latter did occur.
