Hi,
i used to, but then they banned me from mirc I can't swim, so a flood is the last thing that I need.
does the bible say it did? i can't find this mt everest business in my copy. Genesis 7:19-20 They rose greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered. The waters rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than twenty feet. Since all the high mountians under the entire heavens were covered, then I am pretty sure that Everest would have been one of them. I am sure I read somewhere that it would need 6ft of water per hour for 40 days to cover Everest to a depth of 20 feet. You would have thought that the Egyptians would have noticed this amount of water.
but that doesn't mean that's not how the story got started. I don't think we will ever know how the story got started. Perhaps the Hebrews felt left out because other cultures had a flood story and they didnt.
when did i pretend the bible was a credible source? I wasnt referring to you. I was referring to the nutballs who need it to be syllable perfect.
i'm pretty I'm sure you are, but I am betrothed!
i spent some time arguing faith that it was, in fact, not. Can I ask why you consider yourself a Christian? Finally, I would add Truthlover's name to your list of sensible Christians. Brian.

i'm pretty I'm sure you are, but I am betrothed! i shouldn't try to write posts on no sleep. i'm pretty sure there was supposed to be a "sure" in there.
Can I ask why you consider yourself a Christian? cause i think jesus was a groovy kind of guy.
Finally, I would add Truthlover's name to your list of sensible Christians. seem that way, yes. we do exist, apparently.

Hi,
Drugs LOL, I would believe that if any of the Wyatt disciples said it, but, seriously, how do you know all these things about Jesus? Brian.

there is evidence that a few thousand years back, several cities in mesopotamia all flooded at about the same time. "A ten foot layer of flood silt has been found at Ur[...] indicating a flood during the 4th millenium BC, at Kish there is evidence of a flood [...] after 3000 BC, at Fara[...] some time after the one at Ur but before the one at Kish, and at Nineveh[ about the same time as Ur]These layers constitute a record of[...] floods of the Tigris or Euphrates or both at once" (Vitaliano, Legends of the Earth) It strikes me if you were between the two and they flood simultaneously, you probably WOULD think the whole world had flooded. Vitaliano also has a suggestion for 'the fountains of the deep', if you'd like it... Mat 27:5 And he went and hanged himself Luk 10:37 Go, and do thou likewise.

meaning i don't know, i think. But your thoughts must be based on some sort of evidence surely? Where do you get the infromation from that makes you think he was a groovy guy? Brian.

But your thoughts must be based on some sort of evidence surely? Where do you get the infromation from that makes you think he was a groovy guy? because generally the philosophies attributed to him seem to promote general grooviness.
