Re: Corporations behaving badly
I meant to say anti-republican rather than anti authoritarian. One side supports their own brand of authoritarianism and villifies the other sides brand (of authoritarianism).
Your side opposes profiling, which is a valid argument, but what the shoplifters do is use that to their advantage. They steal right in front of your face while daring you to produce evidence that they are doing so. Granted it does not help to objectify and catergorize them, since everyone is an individual and does in fact have civil rights. The fact is, the bad apples hide in the midst of the masses and pick their target.

The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of a doubt, what is laid before him.” - Leo Tolstoy, The Kingdom of God is Within You (1894).

Re: Corporations behaving badly
You seem to advocate looking the other way and letting these people get something for nothing at the expense of the rest of us. Sad.

Biden discovered the documents and immediately handed them over. Biden didn't intentionally steal the documents from the government, nor did Biden lie about having them.
Trump purposefully stole the documents from the government, only returned some of them after being pressured by government agencies for more than a year, and lied about having more of the documents in his possession. They were in his freaking desk, for crying out loud.
That's the difference.

As I have said twice before, the drugstore where I used to work REDUCED their anti-shoplifting measures. I'll repeat that, since you didn't seem to notice it before: They REDUCED their anti-shoplifting measures. Apparently, what they lost to shoplifting wasn't worth the expense of extra security measures AND the expense of backlash from false accusations, etc. (Imagine the uproar if a privileged white person was falsely accused.)
So it's the merchants, not me. Public relations is worth a lot.

boy Phat if you really think there is anything but surface similarities between the Biden and Trump document cases you're stupider than I thought.

They don't. Only a Trump-lover would think they do.
Phat writes:
And why are conservatives more likely to be idiots...
I have answered that question several times before, quoting John Stuart Mill. To paraphrase, conservatives don't have to be idiots but idiots tend to be conservative.
Conservatism looks for simple answers. The evil need simple answers to convince the simple-minded.
And conservatives are usually wrong because complex questions seldom have simple answers.

Conersations With Ted (Cruz)
Thanks for your succinct explanation.
Ted Cruz recently took on your beloved AOC and showed the other side of the border argument that she glosses over.

Would that be Ted Cruz, son of Rafael Cruz? Would this be the Rafael Cruz who immigrated from Cuba by attaining political asylum in the US?

Re: Conersations With Ted (Cruz)
Watching him self-radicalize I find to be personally alarming, along with his expanding lack of self-awareness. It's like Déjà vu all over again, remembering some family members showing similar patterns of behavior.

Re: Conersations With Ted (Cruz)
Agreed. He used to be a bit off and woefully ignorant and uneducated. But now he has embraced ignorance. He has joined the attack on expertise and education. As you can see, I have no patience for his bullshit. I am going to more comment from the peanut gallery and engage less directly.
He has gotten a bit unstable and has made veiled references to knowing who I am. This is one of the few places my actual name isn't used but that is forum policy. But that he put effort into it is disturbing. He needs serious psychiatric intervention. I have no problem with assholes, I am one. I do have a problem with the willfully ignorant, racists and haters.

Re: Conversations
AOC may be educated but her socialist leaning policies are hardly expertise. Cruz may be the son of immigrants but he has every right to tough opinions on immigration. What you and Damselfly fail to grasp is the necessity of a two party system to preserve nationalism and prevent social democratic globalism from defining the destiny and meaning of our Republic.
