However, it is the story that is a metaphor, not every single word. The story is internally consistent and "yom" means a literal day.Are you seriously saying that a story cannot be metaphorical unless every single word is to be considered a euphemism for something else?I notice you still haven't answered my question, though:We're dealing with a Jewish text. Shouldn't we let the Jews be the final arbiters of what it means? If they say that "yom" means a literal, 24-hour day, don't they get the last word on the subject?

I mean about lettin' the Jews decide ANYTHING about the Bible...These guys, not the Hebrew Christians, but those Rabbi-Pharisee-Sadduccee guys...They have long been so irresponsible, the lost....... the ten tribes of Israel...the Urim and Thummim...the Book of Deuteronomy... the (square???) breastplate...the keys to the kingdom... the "hidden manna"... the curious ephod... the Temple... and so much more, even the cube shaped Tellifin they use on their head and arm isn't made right, because they lost the real ones and had to make something up... wrong...Why would we defer to them, when they can't read scripture correctly enough to even notice that the messiah has long come... that the whole gentile world has, as written converted,... the Messiah ben Joseph, the suffering messiah was Jesus...I am being to wonder about vanilla ice cream, now...

OT, but what's the story on those? I saw the numerologist use one in the movie "Pi" but I didn't know what they are or what they're called, or why they're used.The D&D Monster Manual refers to something of the same description as a "phylactery", but unless Orthodox Jews are undead spellcasters I don't see the connection.
