Still paying attention here
I manage to fall behind quite a bit with a day at work. I think all the issues that Elcano posed to me were addressed above by Percy and others.
The location of the first century city of Pompeii was hardly in doubt. People had been digging in the area for centuries "Looking for Treasah" as Terrence and Phillip would put it. It's not amazing to see it on a map although one could always wonder if the map refers to the ancient city of Pompeii or the contemporary Italian city of Pompei. Spelling of the name is really not a decisive indicator.
Percy gave a date of 1592 for a "rediscovery" of Pompeii, although I would suspect that Pompeii had been discovered many times since it was destroyed. The 1592 date (1599 according to the Wikipedia article mentioned above) is related to incidental discovery of the ruins during an engineering project. The 1748 date is when serious attempts at excavation began.
Anyway, the evidence that the city of Pompeii was destroyed in the first century is overwhelming. Cite all the documents you like; you can walk the streets of Pompeii and see that it is a first century city and not one from the seventeenth. Elcano needs to stop this blathering and address why no seventeenth century structures or artifacts have been unearthed at the site.
I see that Elcano appears to be living in Moscow by the Hudson. I might like to point out that my limited study of C14 dating methods never once indicated that it was calibrated against historical events. They do write books in Russian you know...or do we need to have them translated into New York Troll dialect?

Re: Still paying attention here
What facts confirm destruction Pompeii and Herculaneum in 79 year?
Such facts is not available. There are only incorrectly dating archeological finds.
Incorrectly dating archeological finds?
Here's a link to the Levin photographic archives at the University of Virginia.
Archival Photograph Project
Would you please choose any picture and explain, in detail, how it is an example of seventeenth century architecture and not from the first.
Or perhaps you can find some other evidence...a link to a seventeenth century artifact found at the site. Perhaps a mechanical clock or a pair of eyeglasses. A picture of someone in seventeenth century clothes...anything. Perhaps you can show me one of the inscriptions on the site written in seventeenth century Italian instead of first century Latin.
The evidence that this is a first century site is overwhelming. It's painfully obvious that your position is unresearched, wrong and just plain silly.

Re: Still paying attention here
The Neapolitan kingdom in 17 century is not Italian. It belongs to Spain. In what language wrote official documents (laws) we does not know.
Percy and Anastasia have already addressed this drivel. It doesn't matter who owned that part of Italy, the inhabitants spoke a dialect of Italian in the seventeenth century. Please reference an inscription from the Pompeiian runes written in Italian or Spanish (heck you can even include French if you want to argue Burgundian influence).
I see you've managed to ignore the majority of my post. I asked you to provide evidence that Pompeii is a seventeenth century city and you blathered on about who was running Naples.
Now you can either go back and address all the points raised in my posts or you can go practice your Borat act on someone else.

Oh I get it now!
It all is beginning to make sense...
George W. Bush and Stalin conspired to destroy Pompeii in 1631 to create a giant smokescreen that was used by the French (disguised as Normans) in their invasion of England in 1066...meanwhile Rameses II and Ghandi had kidnapped Shaka in order to force him to reveal the secret location of Area-51 and get him to sign the Magna Carta.
If it hadn't been for Ben Franklin, Wild Bill Hickock and Adolf Hitler founding Christianity during half-time at the Battle of Marengo, history as we know it would have dissolved into something insubstantial...like a battleship.
See...all we need to do is coordinate our drug intake.
