Re: Archer Opterix for surgery
I concur that AO performs a surgical dissection of the flaws of Hoot Mon's approach, especially its alarmist aspects.
I'd like to also call attention to Jar's reply to AO, Message 14, because its information is equally important and well stated. AO evidently wasn't familiar with the true story of Sister Kinney and so takes Hoot Mon's assertions that she was vilified and her practices rejected at face value. He also accepts Hoot Mon's assumption that heat somehow inhibits the progress of the polio virus, which isn't true. Jar corrects these misimpressions.

Thanks!
Partial credit must go to Dr. Barrett's own website, since that is where I clicked on the link.

Crazy Diamond's most recent submission
This is the funniest exchange of words I've ever read in my life. Especially when Nosy lays it on the line, so to speak. Man... that was better than Ferguson. I nominate the whole thread:

pink sasquatch on examining a study
The Great Pinkness does a magnificent job of stepping through the underlying methodology of a scientific study explaining the reasoning behind each procedural decision.

Message 123
I think Schraf makes a great point here, not only about the excitement skeptics feel when claims are put to genuine test, but about how accusations of rigidity are so often misapplied to skeptics when it's usually the other guys who are dogmatic and rigid, and simply can't countenance the idea that the evidence might be pointing away from their position because their position is wrong.
I can't think of any mindset more rigid than "I'm right no matter what the evidence says."

Happy to be fourth in line for this one from Darwin's Bullfrog--and thanks, Java Man, because I'd have missed this one.

RAZD sums it up.
In Message 287 RAZD does his usual brilliant job of clearly explaining why the Big Bang Theory, Abiogenesis and Evolution are independent studies.
Yet another post I really wish I had written.
