Re: Hey
I can't believe you didn't get a nomination in so long. No really though, to get a POTM, all one needs is a moment of cleverness IMHO. The ant on the rubber strip, thingy, seemed like a clever way to teach the layman. I would normally be too scared to even read anything in the Cosmology section. -------- Ned's right though Percy, many POTM-worthy posts don't get nominated. I think it's probably because not many get involved in nominating.

Crashfrog's articulate post
CrashfrogWhat's the best strategy for defending evolution? (what a mouthful :mad Miscellaneous topics in Creation/Evolution Science forums Message : #11 I was very impressed by Crashfrog's post. I suspect most of his posts are quality, but I'm a lazy reader lately. He seems to have me consulting the dictionary every time I read him.

Hey, and that one was with a hangover. Thanks much, Mike.
I suspect most of his posts are quality, but I'm a lazy reader lately. You're probably not missing all that much, honestly.

Crashfrog, Sidelined, Aximili23 at "What's the best strategy for defending evolution?
Author: Crashfrog, Sidelined, Aximili23 (who started the topic) Forum: Miscellaneous Topics in Creation/Evolution Thread: What's the best strategy for defending evolution? Message: 11, 17, 19 Mike the Wiz already nominated Crashfrog for #11. In all, a very nicely done topic, and not just by and in the above three mentioned. Lots of good quoted material from outside sources. In other words, read the whole topic. Overall, special kudos to Aximili23. Moose

Faith in Is the concept of The Fall reasonable?
Author: Faith Forum: Faith and belief Thread: Is the concept of The Fall reasonable? A whole bunch of them actually.
Message 12 right through to Message 240. To be honest I haven't followed the thread closely, but Faith has done a marvellous job of conveying her position, the two above shone out to me, but I'm sure there are others in between. Thanks Faith!

Re: Faith in Is the concept of The Fall reasonable?
I agree with you Modulous. I think I would have lost interest in this place pretty quick if it wasnt for a few of those nicely articulated posts. Its interesting how everybody has certain gifts. EZscience at "What's the best strategy for defending evolution?"
Author: EZscience Forum: Miscellaneous Topics in Creation/Evolution Thread: What's the best strategy for defending evolution? Message: 58 Haven't been following topics in general at all closely lately, but this new one seems pretty good. Upthread also seems pretty good. There's much more there, but I'll quote one paragraph:
EZscience writes: There was a good article in New Scientist a few weeks ago about the reasons for the rise of fundamentalism in both the east (Islam) and the west (Christianity) and it pointed out the allure of (1) simplistic explanations of the world, (2) the infallibility of a sacred text and, (3) spiritually-derived moralities. All these things have superficial but immediate appeal to people with minimal education seeking solid, unchanging truths about the world in times of unparalleled uncertainty and rapid change. Science does not and cannot provide such psychological crutches. Remember, the place to debate the topic is at that topic, not here in the POTM forum. Moose
