Re: Divine Pusher
But we can see "germs". By using electon microscopy, light microscopy, staining techniques, etc. We can also determine the infectious nature of "germs" by using Koch's postulates. So, we can detect, see, and predict the nature of "germs" or whatever you want to call pathogens.
Assumptions built on assumptions. You can't honestly tell me that when you look through a microscope you know for a fact that what you are seeing is real. You assume it's real.
The pusher would leave a mark of its physical existence
Um, hello, try jumping up! You'll notice you don't get far. That's the pusher. Do you really need more evidence than that? You Theory of Gravity people won't accept any evidence of the pusher. I already said earlier in this thread that the pusher exists, I know he exists and it's written down in a book.
I have been praying non-stop, even while I type, and I have not been blessed with a sign.
Lo! But the signs are all around you and you have but to open your eyes! You are typing you say, you are typing how? By PUSHING on your keys! The pusher works through you!

Re: Divine Pusher
Of course! Didn't I tell you that I was the Anti-Pusher!?! I rely on emperical evidence and rational thought to thwart the truly spiritual people who rely on insight and revelation to define reality. I am a bastard. Call me, the Puller!!!

Re: Divine Pusher
Then I cannot prove anything to myself that is outside of my own existence. I mean, I know I exist. Who else but me is telling myself that I may or may not exist. As you say, though, I cannot trust my senses to tell me what is real. If my senses are faulty, then I could be wrong every time I make an observation. Wow!!! So, by believing in this pusher that is outside of my own existence, since I am definitely not the pusher, I could be lying to myself by knowingly relying on my senses. I am definitely the Anti-Pusher. I promise to bring peace between the pushers and the pushees (kind of funny if you say it like Sean Connory). Then I will destroy this world by pulling. Yes, the Puller!!! All I need is a catchy theme song and a bad-ass costume that makes me look like I have abs and no love handles! And how can you prove that I cannot do what I say I can do?

Re: Divine Pusher
Your post contained several logical points, but I couldn't be bother to read them.
Clearly your only purpose on these boards is to discredit people of good faith. You insistance on "Sciencanity" as your religion does nothing to disprove the KNOWN TRUTH that the Pusher is real!
I discount all you say out of hand, name you Heathen and dispatch cruisaders to eliminate you.
So there

Re: Divine Pusher
I will write more later. Right now I have to go and board up my windows and grab my supplies. Your crusaders should be well armed. Not even the pusher could save them if they get near me.
Wait, why does the pusher need minions to do his/her bidding anyway? Why doesn't he/her just crush me like a grape? That is, if I exist and can be crushed by a natural being that can only rely on will to perform action.
Screw the preparations! All I have to do is pretend I am not here! Wait, it didn't work! F...!!! No, no panic. I'll just fall asleep and become unaware of my conscious state.

It is doubtless because he is awaitng your submission to the push. You can deny it but, honestly, haven't you felt pushed at any time in your life? The pusher just wants to push you so you can feel safe and know that he will never push you astray.{unlike that puller fellow whom we all know wants us to pull away from our beloved pusher}So spread his message and go out there and push someone around. You will feel good about it and those you push will learn the one true way.

Re: Divine Pusher
Yes, a heretic am I. Have you ever seen the T-shirt with the names of some great heretics listed on the front?
More on heresy later. I have a meeting with my science supervisor about my observation today. I had my students read an experiment done by Kingsolver and Kohl about insect wings and flight. The experiment is a great illustration of how we do science and shows how wings could start out regulating temperature and end up being used to fly! I first read about the experiment in Bully for Brontosaurus.
I am tired with the pusher. I have outgrown the meta-crap, I mean metaphysical implications of a natural being with supernatural powers or just natural powers that cannot be traced back to the source. F... the pusher. This "faith" has done less for me than Jesus!

I've recently, and repeatedly, had a few of my ideas flat out ridiculed by people who called them "ridiculous" and "idiotic". Perhaps these ideas aren't "scientific" but I personally feel that they stand up perfectly well by certain standards of YEC science.
stop kidding yourself, YEC isnt science. the last time it was science was 400 years ago.
quote:
1) Downward Pusher - Gravity is not a law. What we "believe" is gravity "attracting two objects with mass" is simply the downward force exherted upon us by the Intelligent Pusher. It is through his devine providence that we don't go spinning out into space.
you can believe what you want, but general relativity still holds truth. the laws of physics still exists, no matter what 'being' might be behind it.
quote:
2) Upside Down Evaporation - Many of the features of the Great Flood don't stand up against modern geology, however, this is because geologists are assuming that the waters of the Flood behave like water we see today on Earth. My assertion is that these waters actually evaporated from the bottom up - thus salt deposits could form underneith other layers, erosion could happen backwards, etc.
and you are assuming that this did happen, how does that make you any more credible. oh but it doesn't because you have absolutely nothing to base this off of but your own wild ideas.
quote:
3) Random Species POP-ulation. New species randomly POP into existance. (usually with the audible sound). This accounts for why so many species that exist today don't exist in the past. It also allows for different species without macro-evolution.
Anyone wanna take a stab at these.
this theory could only be explained by a very powerful intelligent force, known by some as god, by others as alien. there is no evidence for this, in fact transitional fossils and vestigial organs make Intelligent Design a more irrational theory. But it is not entirely impossible, though very unlikely.
what is more likely is evolution and that is why it is more logical. that is why more intelligent people support the evolution theory.
quote:
By the way, I know some of you think I'm being silly here, but I honestly KNOW these to be true, so good luck proving me wrong.
Also, I read these in a book.
you arent being silly, you are being ignorant. but its okay, we all learn these things sometime. learning is perpetual. you cannot know these to be true, even if they are. ignorance is close-mindedness and arrogance, which you seem to be filled with.

LOL
Welcome to the boards Roy!
But, I think you missed the point of the thread. Rather than trying to knock down my crazy ideas, you are supposed to be coming up with crazy ideas of your own.
You'll find out fast enough that no amount of rational, well thought out discussion, backed up by centuries of observation makes any difference when trying to disprove the "theories" that get posted here.
Besides, channeling a true creationist - "I discount everything you say out of hand. Despite the fact that I don't understand any of your points and have never bothered to study any of the fields I contradict, I read a book once and it says you are wrong."

Re: Divine Pusher
I have a meeting with my science supervisor
Sounds like a new theory!
The Intelligent Supervisor!
All science happens the way it does because it bows to the will of the IS. Should he/she change his/her mind about the rules, everything goes out the window. This nicely explains why ID and YEC don't make any sense by today's standards.
You say you've "met" this Intelligent Supervisor? Was this some sort of vision?

Re: LOL
i see,
[crazy theory]well i believe that the RNA that all life evolved from on the planet was originally an experiment done by a superior intelligent alien race. they are constantly watching us, but never revealing themselves. They are testing how evolution works over billions of years because, of course, they have a much, much longer life span that us and also an extremely advanced brain. and you can't say i'm wrong because its true. an alien came to me in my sleep using telepathy and told me all of this. after learning the truth, i began looking through history and all the facts lead to the conclusion that this theory is real.[/crazy theory]
you're right about saying that no evidence, no matter how irrefutable can disprove someone's theory. because they have to disprove the theory themself before they stop believing it. but i think if enough evidence is shown, and if the person is not too stubborn to admit being wrong, then it is possible to change someone's ideas. the smartest people are the ones who can easily admit when they are wrong, in the face of overwhelming contrary evidence.
that quote at the end of your post seems to sum up the thoughts of most creationists.

Re: Enough tooling around...
Late to the fray, but WTH.
It's "True" that "Love conquers all".
That this is a fallacy has been soundly determined by noted researcher Barbara Cartland B.B.S., T.U.V., L.A.T. etc., who has shown (many a time) that Love Hurts. Love Spurts. Love Blurts. Or something along those lines. In her seminal work, What Really,Really Is Love, p98, she(?) discloses that the evolution of Love was not hierarchical, but proceeded on parallel lines. Thus, Sexual (a.k.a. Got the Hots for You, Momma) Love, while traced to primeval times, has steadfastedly refused to expand laterally into other lines e.g. Puppy Love, Pop-star Love (not to be confused with a certain ”Pop’ Theory ”pushed’ by deluded individuals, or even Pappy Love. Money Love (a.k.a. Love of Money), while ”pushed’ (that word again) by introspectives as mainline, faces relegation to the lesser lanes thanks to the Beatles (I don`t care ”bout the money, money can`t buy you Love(insert musical note)).While Narcissistic Love was a late developer, having to await the invention of the mirror. Thus, the expression that Love Conquers All (whether the True or Not-So-True versions) carries its own death warrant as Love does not conquer Love as Bill Clinton so eloquently proved (ref: Lewinsky, Cigar, etc.).
Now where was I?
