How about a little less name-calling?

You haven't corrected me...and it hasn't been "common knowledge since" that the world is a sphere. Men believed the earth was flat, and square in some recent centuries. I can only speculate how far back these beliefs went...I won't jump to believe your Greek teaching here, especially since I know you're wrong about it being common knowledge since.

Guide to some Bible Archaeology topics
quote:
Well if you are an Evolutionist, I would call you a hypocrite to discredit archaeological finds...and beyond that you are attempting by ignorance to discredit all the Biblical support and historical accuracey that is out there.
I tracked down two topics concerning Bible archaeology.
If you wish to pursue such, you might want to try taking it to:
biblical archaeology (probably the better of the two topics), or
Bible Archaeology - An introduction
I'm sure this has been covered elsewhere also, such as in various "Exodus" topics (the Exodus has been worked pretty hard lately here at ).

Uh, yes, it has been. Obviously, it's been common knowledge through the modern centuries (past 300 years or so); it was known during the Renaissance; and while not common knowledge among the rabble during the Dark Ages, the knowledge was preserved among the inteligentia.
Since Greek learning had spread throughout the classical world, it was common knowledge during the writing of the Bible.
Ergo, common knowledge. Maybe not to you, but certainly among the authors of the Bible. At any rate I suggest you start backing your posts up with fact instead of just making things up.

umliak
Well, for the record the sky is not always blue. It's a part of creation, and if you'd like some insight, I'd suggest that you light a match and look at the flame. The blue is the sky, the orange is sunset. The sky really is a flame; it is fire. The Bible describes things on a more spiritual and deeper level--a truthful level
You are asserting that the sky is a flame as though you actually believe this.Perhaps you could explain this statement to the satisfaction of myself and others who may be suspicious of the purpose for this assertion.
I don't know why you're participating in a Biblical thread which supports its accuracey in order to tell us believers we're wrong.
I think you have yet to show how you come to assert the accuracy of the bible since you will not present anything to have a debate upon. Is this because you doubt your ability to defend the position you are declaring?

Re: The same old same old.
Please show your calculations for a 1 kg cannonball falling from a height of 10 meters and how the atmospher exerts force on it.
Because the atmosphere is as physical as you and I. If you put dirt in a glass of water, the dirt will settle at the bottom and the water up top. So why then is the earth not endoused in water, if water rises? Because the water is creationally destined to rise above and settled in the clouds above. Need more proof of this? As it settles above, as sure as it turns to snow the more water there arises (in autumn it dries out dramatically, clothing the sky in white clouds, and then it turns into snow because systematically (I believe by God) in the future the water is meant to settle in the clouds--and the so the deader the ground becomes, the more heaven matures), the more the clouds are going to settle and form into the new creation.
Likewise science tells us that that outmost layer of a sphere is the greatest volume: so where you get the greater surface area of the clouds above, and rising, you see that as sure as the clouds in autumn mimic the prophecy and become snow, when all the water finally evaporates into the sky, it's going to freeze. Now why would water freeze? Because in order to cover the larger surface area, ice expands. So elementally and creationally it all works out. You see that as sure as a simple model of dirt in a glass of water show you how things settle in a certain manner, then as sure as we have dry ground and life (and the water hasn't covered the ground), it is in essence drying and forming the heavens above. The clouds, in order to create a new world--a new ground, a new earth, a new surface. All of our water will settle there, earth will, from outerspace, become a big white ball--covered as one big cloud. And the water will freeze, cover the greater surface area, and then you will understand.
For there is a precise order of things; it's not the crazy atheist view of chaos. If it were, water would not expand as ice and settle in the clouds above in such a perfect way. Likewise it would also not compact and turn into liquid the further it moved toward the core, so as to cover a lesser surface area. And the temperatures also even out with this.
Everything is so perfect, and while now that I have explained this, and if you can comprehend this, you may just blame it on the Laws of Physics. I for one recognize the perfection of prophecy of and science, and that which I can understand, and see that if there were a Big Bang, it is only because God is that Big Bang, and God is the Creator.

Umliak, I have to ask what you're trying to accomplish. I don't think you're going to get mike to believe by trying to prove him wrong. You can neither prove nor disprove the existence of God.

I'm sorry but...
as a Christian I gotta call
I went to the site you mentioned and checked out their "Biblical Science" references. Not one single item they mentioned was correct and most of them were either simply silly or not pertinent. There certainly was no proof of any scientific knowledge from the Bible and in fact, some pretty major misrepresentations.
