Asking repentance, and having faith in that repentance, are necessary but you also have to stop sinning.

The Bible says it's not possible to stop sinning.

If Hovind continues his lies until he dies he will probably go to Hell no matter how strongly he believes in God or accepts Jesus. He might get treated better than a constant liar who is an atheist, but I doubt it.

I suppose I should ask, what did he lie about?

Oh I see what you mean. If they are commandmends then what is the punishment for not obeying them sense you can still go to heaven? I would have to say the punishments for not obeying the commandments would be received in life.

That assumes you get caught. If I stole 100, & never got caught, surely I would be at an advantage, not dissadvantage, for having broken a commandment?

Redstang, it seems you have a fairly creative attitude to your religion. The above is not supported in scripture - and in another post you stated that the bible says it is not possible to stop sinning - conveniently ignoring the fact that Jesus said that with God, ALL things are possible.

Good point, Cobra.
Before Jesus man had to make other forms of sacrifice to pay for his sins. Now we need only accept Christ who sacrificed himself.

Oh they do hold revelence. Here are some reasons why I feel it's important to have the 10 commandments in the Bible.
1) They are still meaningful towards helping us lead a good life now.
2) It's important to know the history of man's relationship with God.
3) It helps us appreciate the fact that we now have Jesus to pay for our sins.

I would say we should observe all the instructions in the Bible as all are important and helpful in leading a good life.

That was explained to me as being because, if the Jews couldn't hold themselves to all their laws, Gentiles shouldn't be asked to either.
Christianity is a more gregarious faith than Judaism and it is open to anyone (or really liberal Judaism for everyone + Messiah). Judaism, traditionally, is one based on family lineages and is not as gregarious. Sadly, this has caused them much hardship over the years.
Why do Orthodox Jews still keep to their strict laws? Well remember, they aren't Christians and so they don't believe in the Christian covenant with God established through the death of Christ.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think jews stick to the commandments of the old testament any longer. Specifically, animal sacrifices to pay for sins. It makes me wonder how they expect to be forgiven?

I think the point he was trying to make was you can't judge relationships based on cytochrome c amino acid sequences.

No, he said we were more closely related to a sunflower than a chimp. Whatever his point was, this is a LIE.

Redstang, it seems you have a fairly creative attitude to your religion. The above is not supported in scripture -

I have read the entire Bible 2 times so far. That is the overall impression I get from reading scripture. I think I can support that with a little research and verse quotations. Do you think you can support against it in the same manner?

and in another post you stated that the bible says it is not possible to stop sinning - conveniently ignoring the fact that Jesus said that with God, ALL things are possible.

Yes, Jesus is God. With accepting Jesus you can be forgiven. In otherwords man can not stop sinning, that is impossible. But by accepting Jesus you can have your sins cleaned because with God all things are possible.
"For ALL have Sinned and fall short of the Glory of God."
Romans 3:23
"The wages of Sin is Death"
Romans 6:23
"For there are none who are righteous.. no, not one"
Romans 3:10
"I will expose your righteousness and your works, and they will not benefit you"
Isaiah 57:12
"For it is by Grace that you have been Saved, through Faith - and Not from yourselves. It is a gift from God - Not earned by works, so that no one can boast"
Ephesians 2:8-9
"When we confess our sins...God is Faithful and Just to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us of ALL unrighteousness"
1 John 1:9

God see's what we do in life, there is not a place to hide a sin from him.
Does that answer your question, or did i misunderstand?

Come to think of it. The only thing I remember him saying in his video's was about dna or chromo count?
Do you know what tape he address this on? I'll check it and find out for sure what he said. I checked the link on that website but it was a broken link.
