I keep asking for help. Will you try to provide any?
So far, you keep talking about things that are completely different and useless for me. Please, help!

Apple Music is not just a streaming service, it’s taken over the music side of iTunes, at least on Mac and iPad. So long as you don’t take a subscription you won’t get the streaming. I don’t.

So then what does Apple Music do besides streaming?
Nobody wants to say!

And I checked and that applies to Windows, too. No promises since you’re using an iPod knock-off rather than an actual Apple product but it might work to transfer your music.

It does all the music stuff that iTunes did - as I just told you. Ripping CDs? Apple Music. Buying from the iTunes Store? Apple Music. Playing music from your iTunes library? Apple Music. Syncing music to an iPod? Apple Music.

Well, there is no actual Apple product anymore, so third party was the only option available.

Oh, crap! OK, I'll give it a try, though I really hate loading dodgy software.

Indeed, but that doesn’t change the facts that it is a third-party product, is not endorsed or authorised by Apple and Apple have no responsibility to make it work.

Since I’m on a bus with only my iPad and a mobile connection I think you’d do better looking at Apple Support rather than asking me.

Oh great! Even more crappy Apple software!
And what do they even mean by "Windows device"? The computer? I need to take a break!

As others have noted, Apple Music is not just a streaming service. I ripped all my CD's into what was then called iTunes on Windows literally decades ago. Through the years I've upgraded hardware and software and transitioned to the Mac, and that library of music has followed right along. I still have it. If I search the Music directory on my Mac, some levels down I can see all the .m4p files that contain that music.
Apple Music is one of the options that can probably do what you need. On a Mac, if you click on File->Import... it will bring up a Finder window that will include in the left-hand navigation bar any USB gadget you've connected. On Windows there should be some equivalent. You should be able to share any music in Apple Music with any smart phone that also runs Apple Music. But what you need is for the music to physically reside on the smart phone, so for that you would use File->Library->Export Library, which will again bring up a Finder window (on a Mac), and if your smart phone is connected to the computer via bluetooth or USB then it should be one of the destination options. But it's probably not this simple. There's probably extra steps when the destination is Apple Music rather than just the file structure. Again, other apps probably provide the same capabilities. Apple Music gets a great deal of criticism for being difficult to use, and maybe it's deserved, but I got on board with iTunes back around 2000 and all the changes since then have accumulated very gradually and I'm very familiar with it, even though its menus and behavior are sometimes counter-intuitive. I wish I could be more specific, but I've never done what you're trying to do myself. Why not just surrender to streaming? Why stick with an old technology that will be less and less supported over time? Are you going places where there's no connectivity? Is pricing an issue? I keep adding to my music library from the Apple Music library, and download is an option. Yesterday I added about 10 hours of music. We pay a flat fee for an Apple One Premiere subscription bundle which includes AppleTV+, Apple Music, Apple News+ and Apple Arcade, but you can get just Apple Music by itself for $11/month and have access to a huge library, or use Spotify, Amazon or Google and do the same. The portion of my answers that seemed unrelated to your problem stemmed from when you said this:
dwise1 writes in Message 9: While DJing during class for a dance teacher who had her music on her iPhone (she was stuck with that since someone had stolen her iPod), I had to watch for it dimming before timing out so I could tickle the screen to keep it awake. I don't know what her settings were, or perhaps iPhones behaved differently back then, but you won't have any trouble with any recent iPhone (six years old or less) turning off in the middle of playing music, even when paused. --Percy
