To celebrate the 2024 Holiday Season. Be of good cheer and post your celebrations.

Re: Welcome Pagans
Materialism has served America "well" for over fifty years. It may also be our eventual demise.
Christian values of giving and sharing were effectively warped by Madison Avenue and the "Miracle on 34th street" mindset of a postwar economic boom in the 1950's. It has become global and has only served to feed the beast. I was spoiled by it. Christianity is not the villain. Tell me what Jesus allegedly ever did that hurt humanity?

Okay, I'll bite. How does this make any sense?

When I was 6 or 7 years old, Christmas was a shower of materialistic gifts for my best friend and I. We loved army stuff, and I remember one particular Christmas where between us we must of had 25 toy guns, monster magnets, silly putty, plastic army soldiers, matchbox cars, slinkys, etc etc etc. Materialism ruled. I became addicted!

The message of Miracle on 34th Street, is that it's the little intangibles that matter, not materialism.

...and, btw, the origin of Holiday is Holy Day, so we're not doing much avoiding the word Christmas ...

Re: Welcome Pagans
Tell me what Jesus allegedly ever did that hurt humanity?
Since he didn't exist there is only the lie of his fantasy life.
In that fantasy story he lied about the nature of reality and his role in it. He stated that ghosts and delusions are real and serve as guides to rule one's life. This led adherents to insist on theirs being the superior force commanded by a supreme being. As usual this superiority became corrupted allowing all manner of evil to be conducted in his name. With war and torture as their means, your Jesus sent his priests out to conquer all the world.
That has been exceptionally bloody and painful for humanity.

Everyone, have a great holiday and I hope, a happy change of the year. I'll be spending most of the time with family, the few of them that I do like at least.
Have a great new year!

I think I understand what AZPaul3 would like this thread to be. I think he wants unusual or interesting ways of offering season's greetings, but I don't think I'm any good at that. So I'll just say that my wife and I are happy this Christmas, and we wish we could celebrate the holidays with our kids, but they're 2000 and 3000 miles away, so we will have a merry Christmas by ourselves and Facetime with the kids.
I lost someone near and dear to me this year. We parted long, long ago but stayed in touch, and her family is celebrating their first Christmas without her this year. My best wishes go out to them as well as hopes that they still have the merriest of times despite their loss. Miss you.
