I posted over at Ringo Is Noticeably Missing, a very short message. It was meant to be mildly humourous in its surprise factor. I've been meaning to check in for a while but then I put it off for one reason or another.
I'm not sure whats worse, hijacking that thread or making a whole thread dedicated to me me me. I guess I'll do a little from column A and a whole bunch from column B. Hi.

Not my place. But I extend the opportunity if you would like to talk.

Did you complete a process and have now taken on a more self-agreeable world-view?

Well 'complete' is perhaps an optimistic view, my bank account would love if that were true. However yes there has been a process of transition from one particular state of affairs, to another. Hope you are all well, I'm Mod. She/Her Its been...a journey.
My endocronological shift has meant metal has been replaced by pop and debate replaced with community building and charity fund-raising.
I have been popping in from time to time to see what's going on. I am most amused that the humour thread is still Humour VIII, its like 10 and a half years old now. Did nobody think to make a v9 or did I just do it so well its crazy to consider the idea?
I know we've lost some old friends over time, and I raised a glass for them. For those that remain, its amazing to see you here! Hope you are keeping well. Erm, yeah, AMA I guess

So now it's Ms. Modulous?
That's me!
So how was it?
Every week I am getting physically tortured by someone at a clinic or somesuch, but the worst is the beauracracy. Selling a house? Nightmare. Trying to get a prescription every month? Unnecessarily chaotic. Want a blood test, as requested by an NHS endocrinologist? You have to drive 100 miles because the local GPs refuse for no given reason (all have staff on site that are trained in doing it, they do them basically every day).
My favourite story though is when I followed through with the psychiatrist the government made me go to. Because the waiting time was about 5 years to speak to a beaurocrat who will decide if I want a follow up appointment with the same beaurocrat 6 months later who will only then decide to put me on a year long waiting list for a psychiatrist...I just found one of those psychiatrists and paid hundreds of cash to see him privately to skip the gatekeepers. What a system. Anyway, I followed up as I had concerns about a profound change in my mental state.
"Can you describe the symptoms?"
"Well my brain is very, I don't know, quiet? And it kind of feels like laughter but its a rounder softer version of that? I'm oversleeping too."
"Oversleeping?"
"Yeah, I went to sleep at about 1am and instead of waking up at 6 I slept through to 10"
"OK and does this cause you anxiety?"
"Well, I suppose not - its just very sudden and as I said, 'quiet'"
"If your mood was a temperature how would describe it?'
'Warm?'
"It sounds like you might be experiencing happiness."
"Haha, wait....what?"

Re: Eulogies For The Missing
As for you, I remember your brief yet active role as an administrator.
You know you are old when 12 years is considered a 'brief' time as a forum moderator New moderator/admin - AdminModulous
I do remember when you had a photo of yourself in a dress with pigtails, and I wondered aloud if wearing dresses was perhaps a future fashion trend!
Fun fact about the future - there's still more of it to come! Once we've smashed the gender norms it will be as trendy for a man to wear a skirt as it is for him to wear shoes
As for your current photo, I can say with sincerity "nice hair!".
Thanks! All that time I used to spend arguing on the internet with you fine people is now spent with a curling iron
The first member whom I remember talking with who later died was Robin Rohan. The members who passed later all impacted me in that it seemed so final.
Death is one of those things which you can know all about, but you know nothing about it until friends and family start dying. Along with some old forum-mates, I lost a fair number of very close friends and family over the COVID era. The feeling is different for everyone in some way, but there is a common thread of emotion for each.
I dont know how your gender identity affects you and I wont pry.
I've become reasonably good at setting boundaries - you wouldn't believe some of the insane conversations I have been thrust into over the last few years. I'm adept at dancing away - but if you did have anything you wanted to ask, you are more than welcome to.
Many Christians (especially Conservatives) have an issue with that sort of stuff, but I am more concerned with a persons mental/physical health than I am with identity issues.
Appreciated. It has always puzzled me the attitude some folk have with the whole thing, but it seems to be a feature of humanity that some people will always have issues with something outside of the 'norm'.

Fucking bullshit.

Sorry - I just hate it when systems get in the way of good people just doing what should be normal things.

Personally, I'm dealing with Canada's troubled healthcare system with my Wifey.
Mostly filled with good people trying to do what they can.
But "what they can" is blocked by so many issues and problems they're not allowed to change... it produces such animosity without any outlet for it other than: Fucking bullshit.
Urgh yeah, there is a rather long video on youtube that goes through what its like for trans things the UK - you can view it here. But these kinds of systems are all over the place. They have become so complicated, that responsibility for changing, fixing them and regulating them falls on everybody and thus nobody - either by design or just because over time they've become...irreducibly complex
Quiet, calm... content.

The way it ought to be for everyone.
Good for you to find your way closer.
Yeah, life will always have ways of shaking up the quiet calm contentedness, so for sure - enjoy it while you have it
Back to addressing you directly: Glad to hear things are moving in the positive direction - Good Luck out there!
Danke!

Re: Hey!!
Hello Straggler! Sorry it's taken me a couple of months to get back to you. I think I have a reasonable excuse, as I was recovering from a fairly radical and topic related surgery.
Thanks for the happy memory - that was quite the fond evening at Trafalgar Square. Can't wait to get back to some dancing and communal merriment. I hope the last few years have been kind to you, I've mostly moved from debating to streaming; its a much more relaxing endeavour <3

Re: Hey!!
You didn't change your mind and have everything cut off again, did you? Or, in this case, glued back on?
Really busting my balls over here aren't you?
Hope it all works out for you, Mod.
So far, so good

Re: Hey!!
Yeah, I enjoy the humor. You do know I'm just fondly pulling your tail, or whatever is left down there, right?
You are just jealous that my Creation has Evulva'd into something so amazing.
You are one brave lady. If you don't already do outreach I suggest you consider it. If you can impart that strength of character to others then this world will be a much better place.
Aww that's sweet. I do, as it transpires, do a thing or two in that area, although mostly in a quiet background kind of way. That said I am planning on doing a charity stream on 31st March (TdoV), and use my rather limited follower base to drum up some funds for the National Center for Transgender Equality. In order to do that though I do need to get me some engineering done.
The last two years particularly have involved me learning that I am indeed, living the dream. It can be quite difficult to accept strangely enough, but long may it continue!
