dBoard 4.2 will be released very soon, probably Thursday morning (Feb 9) ET US. Here is a list of changes:
  • Sign In and Account Information

Sign in and account links have moved to the upper right of the page.
  • Google Sign In

New members can join using Google Sign In. The Google Sign In button appears in the upper left hand corner if no one is signed in.
If you use a Gmail email address for your account then you can already use Google Sign In. When you click on the Google Sign In button it will automatically link to your EvC Forum account.
If you don't use a Gmail email address for your account then when you click on the Google Sign In button you can select to have Google Sign In linked to your account. This will not change the email address associated with your account, and you will still be able to use normal sign in.
  • Normal Sign In

The sign in page has become a popup.
  • Multiple Avatars

You can associate multiple avatars with your account, easily selecting which to use. Avatar settings are at the bottom of the settings page.
  • URL Avatars

Your avatar can now be an image URL.
  • Image Orientation Improvements

Images can now be displayed upside down and/or backwards. For example, would display as:
  • New Text Features

The [b] and [i] font modifiers have been joined by [a] (surround with asterisks), [s] and [st] (strikethrough), and [u] and [ul] (underline).
The [e] code allows you to easily combine them using a list of single-letters. For example, [e=abiu]emphasized[/e] would produce *emphasized*.
These changes have the potential for introducing sign in problems. If you can't reach your account please email me at Admin.

Re: Avatars oversized
Hold down the shift key and click on the reload button (circular arrow near the top left of the browser window). If you get a menu select "Hard Reload".

Google Sign In Button is Working
Google Sign In button is working. You won't see this button while signed if, but if you sign out then you'll see this button displayed in the upper left hand corner:
Keep in mind that using Google Sign In is completely optional, but if you'd like to use it then click on the button and you'll get this popup where you can choose which Google account you'd like to use: (except that it will say EvC Forum instead of MyApp, and it will use your Google account name instead of Elisa Beckett):
If you don't happen to already be signed in to your Google account then you'll instead be asked to sign in:
If your EvC Forum account uses your Gmail address then Google Sign In will be automatically linked to your account. If not then you'll be presented this choice, except it will say EvC Forum instead of MyBoard:
If you don't already have an EvC Forum Account then click on the first choice and an account will be created for you. Henceforth clicking on the Google Sign In button will take you directly to your account.
If you already have an EvC Forum account then you should select the second choice, linking your existing account to Google Sign In. You'll be asked to log into your EvC Forum account this one time, but from then on Google Sign In will sign you directly in to your account.
If you already have an EvC Forum account but click on the first choice then you will have two accounts. It's preferable that you not have more than one account, and if this happens just post here or send me a message or email and I will merge the two accounts.
Your Google avatar will be included in the list of avatars for your account.

Re: Google Sign In Button is Working
I should add, current members should take security into account when deciding whether they'd like to use the Google Sign In button. If your EvC Forum account name is anonymous but your Google account name or email is your real name or some meaningful part of it then those will become revealed when you link Google Sign In to your EvC Forum account.
Please take that into account when deciding whether to link the Google Sign In button to your account.

Re: Control panel buttons are missing at the top bar
The "My CP" and "CP" buttons are replaced by the "Settings" and "Control Panel" links near the top right.

Fixed. It was a typo: Adminisitrator. As before, you don't need to swap ID's.

It's for debugging, thanks for noticing I'd left it on.

Sorry, I should have looked through the code more thoroughly. It should be working now.

Re: How to Use Monospace Font?
Has got to be a bug, probably one I introduced near the end of last year, looking at it now...

Re: How to Use Monospace Font?
This should be fixed. There was a bug that removed leading white space on the first line of text inside
. When I put your diagram in Microsoft Word using the Courier New font I had to change the spacing to make it look right. This is what I'm seeing now using
:
                         A
                         |
           +-------------+---------------+
           | |
           B C
           | |
       +---+--------+ +----------+------+
       | | | |
       D E F G
                              |
                          +---+--------+
                          | |
                          H I
Use peek to see my spacing.
I might be able to get <pre> to work also, I'll take a look, now.

Making the <pre> tag work is more than I want to tackle right now. I'll put it on the list.

Button Change
I've just released a minor change that makes it an option for buttons to be textual instead of images. I'm working on another website where I'm planning to only have textual buttons and was hoping to hear people's opinions. The old image buttons are still there and can easily be turned back on.
Please do a hard reset to see the buttons at their proper size.

Re: Button Change
These are all settable parameters. I just took the size down a notch. Better (hard reload required)? And we can always go back to the image buttons if people prefer them.
