We know he has addiction issues. He is addicted to right-wing, christian nationalist propaganda.
What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence. -Christopher Hitchens Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts "God did it" is not an argument. It is an excuse for intellectual laziness. If your viewpoint has merits and facts to back it up why would you have to lie?

Theodoric writes: Perhaps, though I doubt it. I can spot propaganda in both Left and Right Wing sources. In addition, I discriminate by viewing more than one source of information. He is addicted to right-wing, christian nationalist propaganda. Now what I may do is prefer Right Wing sources over Left Wing sources, but I try and balance that out also. One thing I don't do normally is to use the peanut gallery as a source of information. Dr.Jones* writes: The fact that AZ and Theodoric mention its importance is enough for me to be biased against it. The day we all agree around here will be a scary day indeed.

Phat in Message 56 said "You can't have equality without freedom." You are simply sloganizing, parroting propaganda as usual. Why can't you have equality without freedom and what leads you to believe that China is less free than the US? The problem is that you really never actually think. You are a dirty sponge that never gets rinsed out and just stills in sewage. Stop just tossing around words as though you actually knew what they meant. My Website: My Website

You are always critical of my inconsistency. Granted, I often do what Henry Hazlett mentioned in Thinking As A Science written 100 years ago and "read up on something" in order to use it to persuade or defend my arguments. All I can say to you is if you don't like it, go back into exile and leave me alone. You never let my arguments get off the ground!
jar writes: Because their government meddles in and controls everything! Thats the exact thing that the Conservatives are trying to prevent from happening over here. You and the peanut gallery often remind me of Noam Chomsky. (An old man who has been critical of virtually every president in his lifetime, but who saves most of his vitriol for the Conservatives.) You all here are similar to him! Why can't you have equality without freedom and what leads you to believe that China is less free than the US?Wiki writes: Of that, I see the peanut gallery as largely similar to Chomsky. This paragraph sums it up as to how I view jar, Theodoric, ringo, and Xongsmith and Damselfly. Chomsky is a prominent political dissident. His political views have changed little since his childhood, when he was influenced by the emphasis on political activism that was ingrained in Jewish working-class tradition. He usually identifies as an anarcho-syndicalist or a libertarian socialist. He views these positions not as precise political theories but as ideals that he thinks best meet human needs: liberty, community, and freedom of association. Unlike some other socialists, such as Marxists, Chomsky believes that politics lies outside the remit of science, but he still roots his ideas about an ideal society in empirical data and empirically justified theories. In Chomsky's view, the truth about political realities is systematically distorted or suppressed by an elite corporatocracy, which uses corporate media, advertising, and think tanks to promote its own propaganda. His work seeks to reveal such manipulations and the truth they obscure. Chomsky believes this web of falsehood can be broken by "common sense", critical thinking, and understanding the roles of self-interest and self-deception,and that intellectuals abdicate their moral responsibility to tell the truth about the world in fear of losing prestige and funding. He argues that, as such an intellectual, it is his duty to use his social privilege, resources, and training to aid popular democracy movements in their struggles.Wiki:In other words, while I seek to establish a philosophy which the US should adopt, you guys blame the rich (chiefly Right Wing anti government rich) and you specifically parrot Chomsky where the Wiki article says " Chomsky believes this web of falsehood can be broken by "common sense", critical thinking, and understanding the roles of self-interest and self-deception..."! I'd like to think that your collective insults about my intelligence and my googlified learning method are ultimately meant to be constructive, but you guys have a strange way of providing support! jar writes: I never was forced to think. I prefer a cheer-leading squad to a room of critics, but perhaps the reason I hang out here is to exercise my ability (or lack of ability) in constructing an argument. The problem is that you really never actually think.![]() jar writes: Whats wrong with using newer words that I don't quite understand and then looking them up as I go? Phat writes: Freedom comes first. Is there a dichotomy? If there is then there must have been a society you would have considered free, as in western parlance, but not equal in the legal granting of those freedoms to the people. Show me a society where freedom exists in governance without equality of rights. I don't think you can. Some want to consider equality and freedom to be two separate sides of the same coin. You can't have one without the other. But, the tie between the two is not some coin analogy. There is no distinction. In governance, equality and freedom are the same word, Phat. They are the same damn thing.Stop Tzar Vladimir the Condemned!

Well you might have a point. I'd have to think about it. I think that deep down I dont want equality. I don't see a rising tide lifting all boats. I see myself getting old while my boat is taking in water! Of course, my critics point out that I did it to myself. Thanks for your input, AZ. You and I can get along if we avoid Theism!

Well, Phat and theism are also the same thing. Though I still hold out for a stick of intellectual dynamite that will separate the two.

Again Phat, you are just parroting the Carny Barker.
What makes you think the Chinese government meddles in everything? It doesn't and in fact it can't. People still go to school, get jobs, get educated, marry, have kids, buy cars, go on vacations... People still shop in grocery stores, drink god awful stuff like bubble tea, but do drink some pretty great beers and are pretty much free to order their lives anyway they want. Stop just sloganizing. Think! And Phat, it is the so misnamed conservatives that are the ones pushing to control everything here. It is the GOP that is limiting what can be taught, what medical conditions can be treated, what harmful toxins can be put back in the water and air, who gets to rape the natural resources. Stop just sloganizing. Think! Who is trying to make abortions illegal again? Who is calling for books to be taken off the shelves? Who is trying to limit what history can be taught? Who is trying to stop fact checking lies? Stop just sloganizing. Think! My Website: My Website
