It's one of your modus operendi's.
Of course it is possible to have both greater equality and freedom.
Did I say it wasn't? I used China as an example because China needs freedom before they can have equality. Freedom comes first.

Theodoric writes:

Perhaps, though I doubt it. I can spot propaganda in both Left and Right Wing sources. In addition, I discriminate by viewing more than one source of information.
Now what I may do is prefer Right Wing sources over Left Wing sources, but I try and balance that out also. One thing I don't do normally is to use the peanut gallery as a source of information. You all are biased.

Re: Learn the basics
You are always critical of my inconsistency. Granted, I often do what Henry Hazlett mentioned in Thinking As A Science written 100 years ago and "read up on something" in order to use it to persuade or defend my arguments. All I can say to you is if you don't like it, go back into exile and leave me alone. You never let my arguments get off the ground!
jar writes:
Why can't you have equality without freedom and what leads you to believe that China is less free than the US?
Because their government meddles in and controls everything! Thats the exact thing that the Conservatives are trying to prevent from happening over here. You and the peanut gallery often remind me of Noam Chomsky. (An old man who has been critical of virtually every president in his lifetime, but who saves most of his vitriol for the Conservatives.) You all here are similar to him!
Wiki writes:
Chomsky is a prominent political dissident. His political views have changed little since his childhood, when he was influenced by the emphasis on political activism that was ingrained in Jewish working-class tradition. He usually identifies as an anarcho-syndicalist or a libertarian socialist. He views these positions not as precise political theories but as ideals that he thinks best meet human needs: liberty, community, and freedom of association.
Unlike some other socialists, such as Marxists, Chomsky believes that politics lies outside the remit of science, but he still roots his ideas about an ideal society in empirical data and empirically justified theories.
In Chomsky's view, the truth about political realities is systematically distorted or suppressed by an elite corporatocracy, which uses corporate media, advertising, and think tanks to promote its own propaganda. His work seeks to reveal such manipulations and the truth they obscure. Chomsky believes this web of falsehood can be broken by "common sense", critical thinking, and understanding the roles of self-interest and self-deception,and that intellectuals abdicate their moral responsibility to tell the truth about the world in fear of losing prestige and funding. He argues that, as such an intellectual, it is his duty to use his social privilege, resources, and training to aid popular democracy movements in their struggles.
Of that, I see the peanut gallery as largely similar to Chomsky. This paragraph sums it up as to how I view jar, Theodoric, ringo, and Xongsmith and Damselfly.
Wiki:
In Chomsky's view, the truth about political realities is systematically distorted or suppressed by an elite corporatocracy, which uses corporate media, advertising, and think tanks to promote its own propaganda. His work seeks to reveal such manipulations and the truth they obscure. Chomsky believes this web of falsehood can be broken by "common sense", critical thinking, and understanding the roles of self-interest and self-deception,and that intellectuals abdicate their moral responsibility to tell the truth about the world
In other words, while I seek to establish a philosophy which the US should adopt, you guys blame the rich (chiefly Right Wing anti government rich) and you specifically parrot Chomsky where the Wiki article says " Chomsky believes this web of falsehood can be broken by "common sense", critical thinking, and understanding the roles of self-interest and self-deception..."! I'd like to think that your collective insults about my intelligence and my googlified learning method are ultimately meant to be constructive, but you guys have a strange way of providing support!
jar writes:
The problem is that you really never actually think.
I never was forced to think. I prefer a cheer-leading squad to a room of critics, but perhaps the reason I hang out here is to exercise my ability (or lack of ability) in constructing an argument.
jar writes:
Stop just tossing around words as though you actually knew what they meant.
Whats wrong with using newer words that I don't quite understand and then looking them up as I go? In private school when I was young, my verbal skills were tested and rated higher than average.

AZ Does It
Well you might have a point. I'd have to think about it. I think that deep down I dont want equality. I don't see a rising tide lifting all boats. I see myself getting old while my boat is taking in water! Of course, my critics point out that I did it to myself. Thanks for your input, AZ. You and I can get along if we avoid Theism!

Who Is? It Is The GOP
so of course I looked up "sloganizing". Which led me to the word "Slogan".
Websters writes:
a word or phrase used to express a characteristic position or stand or a goal to be achieved
I also noted a synonym:
Catchphrase: a word or expression that is used repeatedly and conveniently to represent or characterize a person, group, idea, or point of view
Which takes me full circle back to Hiyakawas book, Language In Thought & Action.
The reason that I became hung up on freedom over equality is because I read that it was a basic GOP stance. And to me, the GOP does not begin and end with Trump. There has to be more.
Granted they have devolved since Nelson Rockefeller.

And they are lying and you are too ignorant to know what the egress is.
The exit? Surely it is not so simple as another tax break! If so, the Republicans simply want to rob the American people. (Now I'm agreeing with Xongsmith and Damselfly! Can't believe it!)

Re: Who Is? It Is The GOP
See I disagree with your extreme view. Earlier, someone mentioned that Sarah Huckabee Sanders was Conservative because she was deplorable. Thats just too extreme for me.
If it could be summed up, Republicans have come to represent the ME party. Me and my children. Democrats represent the WE party. The problem there is that if you let them run on and on, they will expand WE until the concept becomes unsustainable. And on an unrelated note, you still don't understand money.

Well you threw Him away, so I don't expect any answers from you except what you always say. In fact, I will write your post for you.
jar unplugged writes:
you simply ignore ALL of the evidence people have provided for you if it doesn't say what you want to hear.
Not in this case. I am using your own words to write this post. Trust me, you are not what I want to hear. At least ringo is humorous about it!
jar unplugged writes:
Believers believe the fantasy they create.
Since we are talking about the GOP, let me fix that for you.
jar unplugged writes:
Believers The GOP believe the fantasy they create.
And I would add that *if* what you all assert is true in that the GOP is evil, they believe none of what they peddle. They are the ones who are leading the US middle class astray much like a Pied Piper.
Though Nixon initially decoupled gold from the US Dollar, it was the Democratic administrations who kept them apart once they realized that the lie could be believed that the dollar was as "good as gold". It took Gerald Ford to rescue his wealthy neighbors by signing an executive order which allowed private ownership of Gold again. Who do you think pushes the narrative that fiat money is destined to crash and that hard commodities will preserve an individuals purchasing power during a coming "great reset" when the bill will get paid?
Its not the Democrats.
They want to preserve this illusion that money is simply created as needed and that the GOP are "Gold bugs". Ask China what they think of Gold.(They know its value and likely own more than anyone else!) Ask India. The handwriting is on the wall for the US Dollar and the Conservatives know it...they are just trying to stir up interest among the sheeple so that the dollar will crash...while the Democrats want to preserve the lie that the people themselves determine the value of anything...be it Gold,Copper,Oil, or Weed.
jar unplugged writes:
Phat, I was an optician and I made $400 a month salary.

Gas was about a quarter a gallon.

My rent was $90.00 a month and that included all utilities.

Stop thinking in terms of one dimension.

Yes inflation happens but so does wage increases.

The problem is the willful ignorance of folk like you and a significant percentage of the US voting population; YOU elect and support people that fuck you. That's not their fault, it's YOUR fault.
We are afraid that the Democrats want to raise the tide and that our boats might sink. (Though I realize that likely would happen anyway, Dems or not.) I voted for Biden and look what happened with inflation!
jar unplugged writes:
The US has fallen out of the top 10 nations in innovation.(...)We are simply not competing and have decided not to compete for decades. We sat on the bench while China and Southeast Asia and Korea and Japan and Europe and Africa and South America scored again and again and again.

We need to compete.

We are no longer the innovators, the inventors, the builders, the leaders.(...)If the US dollar tanks then everyone else in the world would be positioned to profit from our demise.
The Dems want to raise the tide by helping the poor, while expecting us older retirees to bite the bullet. Thats what causes me anxiety.
But we are drifting off track here. You said I had no clue about Jesus. ringo has held my feet to the fire regarding that accusation, and will likely chime in here to offer his two loonies worth.
jar unplugged writes:
How can there be any justification for judging anyone on what they believe?
We've been over this a brazillion times. ringo would agree that Christianity is about what we do and on what the message says. Both He and you have tossed the messenger out with the bathwater. I dont believe in a Jesus limited to the book. I believe that He existed long before the book was written...indeed before humans themselves.
I believe it was He that walked with Adam in the garden.(even if metaphorically) I believe that He was Melchizedek. And I believe that Satan was the King of Tyre.
jar unplugged writes:
beliefs are irrelevant.
Then why even tell me that I don't even have a clue about Jesus? Why not instead tell me that I don't have a clue about myself? I might actually agree with you then.
