Interesting. What would you call it? Moderate?
I'd call it Christian.

Duh! By destroying Nazism.

And I might add that a useful rabbit trail would be to discuss individualism vs Collectivism.

So how could *we* have destroyed Naziism without World War II?

My point was that there would not have BEEN a World War II if Hitler hadn't been supported by individual wealth.

No. I mean commonweal. Maybe if you do not know what a word means you might want to consider looking it up instead of spouting your ignorance.

What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence. -Christopher Hitchens

Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts

"God did it" is not an argument. It is an excuse for intellectual laziness.

If your viewpoint has merits and facts to back it up why would you have to lie?

Re: Understanding the purpose of government
thats a rude reply. I make spelling mistakes, and I wrongly assumed that Theodoric The Great may have made one. I'll match my intelligence against yours any day, old man.
I figured that the S word might be connected to it, knowing you.

Henry Ford
OK, I assumed Henry Ford did it himself voluntarily.
Perhaps I am guilty of intellectual laziness, but it appears you are guilty of intellectual arrogance.

Re: Understanding the purpose of government
Maybe you should not assume. I venture to guess most people here are familiar with yhe word. The word commonweal is independent of the magazine. Only people like you would think that the betterment of society as a whole is a ba d thing. You understand nothing about politics, political theory and the purpose of government, yet you continue to spout right-wing crap that has been debunked multitudes of times.

A man can never improve their wisdom or intelligence by being surrounded by a peanut gallery. People who disagree with me teach me more than goobers who agree.

For The Record
For the record, yes I do assume at times. Perhaps it is a lazy habit, if not a bad one.
And also, I actually looked up the definition(s) of commonweal. I didnt just look at the image and assume it mean't socialist. I was just reacting rather than responding.
Occasionally, I learn something from you.

Peanut gallery seems to be another term that you don't understand. It refers to people who are not necessarily active in the debate but who comment among themselves about it. In Yiddish they're called kibitzers.
And of course it IS possible to improve your wisdom and/or intelligence by listening to the peanut gallery. You SHOULD be able to learn from ANYBODY.
