Unlike Pope John Paul II, Jesus didn't encourage sinners to remain on whatever erroneous spiritual path they were on. Jesus sat down with publicans and sinners and the Pharisees, like you, criticized Him. JP2 made a sacrilegious and shameful mockery of his duty to be a missionary for Christ. What a nutter.

Missionaries are vile, evil people.
What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence. -Christopher Hitchens Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts "God did it" is not an argument. It is an excuse for intellectual laziness. If your viewpoint has merits and facts to back it up why would you have to lie?

Missionaries are vile, evil people. For the same reason why proselytizers are vile, evil people. Their purpose and goal is to attack the beliefs of others in order to destroy those beliefs and replace them with their own.

I say "was" bcoz, sadly, the mad Pope - John Paul II - destroyed the 2000 year-old missionary activities of the Catholic Church ... at least, until sanity and order is restored.

Dredge writes: You are too conservative on this one, in my opinion. Billy Graham, The Protestant Pope, was also a multi-culturalist yet was very effectively used by God to bring about peace and unity rather than division. I didn't see much Holy Spirit in JP2 (John Paul II) when he kissed the anti-Christ Koran in public. It looked more like the spirit of Satan to me. Granted, the counter-argument in religious debates will quote the Bible.
Matthew 10:34 but keep in mind that the division that Jesus brought was between the Holy Spirit (Himself) and the other fake spirits. Critics here at EvC always lambaste and mock me for daring to suggest that there even are fake "spirits" and to be fair, some of them (the demons, not the peanut gallery) occasionally use me too. I believe, however, that we on this planet are involved in an evolving spiritual war. This iwar is within ourselves and our relationships with each other. (God first, each other second) When Jesus was crucified He declared: It is finished! John 19:30 My belief is that the occupying army of spirits still has to be forcibly evicted from the human mind and heart.(sorta like how German troops had to be forcibly evicted from Europe even after D-Day. ) This process takes time and only God knows how much time it will take. Things will get worse before they get better. One other thing that you and I disagree on is the pre-eminence of the Roman Catholic Church over other forms of Protestantism. I believe that you (any individual believer) either have the Spirit or you don't. This includes Popes, Pastors, and Princes. Critics will say that they used to be believers until they saw the true light of reason and evidence. There is natural light and spiritual light. The light shines in the darkness (yet) the darkness has not understood it. Edited by Phat, .

Theo would be impressed (perhaps) if he actually saw an honest Christian rather than a pretender. So many of us become corrupted by the propaganda of the enemy. And furthermore, Pogo was right!
You and I both are guilty of misrepresenting Jesus.
