Take a look at this. Edge has had some updates lately so maybe you got reconfigured. How to configure spell checker on the new Microsoft Edge.

I now get the hover with my name for the cheer I gave Ringo. I just tested it with you and works. I think I just needed a refresh to that page for it to appear

That also explains why it didn't work when I started testing but did when I retested. Thought I was going a little bonkers at first.
