What about the murder of fish by humans? Fish are even closer relatives to ringo than bacteria are! Eating fish is virtually cannibalism!

It is a complex and clever deception. On one hand it enables these people to deny the existence of God based on a falsehood, and on the other hand, it causes harm and death to those suffering from drug resistant infections and failed cancer treatments. Darwin got some things right but he really missed the target when it comes to universal common descent. He did give the correct explanation of how drug resistance occurs and why cancer treatments fail but biologists just can't figure out the math.

The Catholic Church teaches that evolution is compatible with Christianity.

You are very slow at this. Evolution is true. Universal common descent is not true. We are not related to bacteria, potatoes, or chimpanzees. However, bacteria evolve drug resistance and cancer treatments do fail and both are due to evolutionary processes. Biologists have failed to understand how evolution works.
