I figure the forum should know. It had been a while since he had posted, his name hadn't shown up on the board when I was here, and he hadn't answered some emails, so yesterday I called the school where he teaches and they told me he had died. I didn't get the date straight in my head but it had to be the 30th although somebody mentioned the 7th. In any case it was on a Saturday morning during a class he was teaching. He said he wasn't feeling well and left the classroom. They found him on the floor either in the corridor or in the men's room -- I talked to two different people -- and he was DOA at the hospital, of an apparent heart attack. He was a smoker. I was told they've already had the memorial service so I think it couldn't have been the 7th that he died. Maybe that was the day of the service. Oh my!!! That's terrible. You know, I really liked Robin. He will be missed. And I will certainly pray for his family. I believe this is Robin's grandson, Zach, who is just darling. I'm sure his family is grieving their loss. I also wanted to say thanks to all the people that wrote on his behalf. They are kind words from one and all. I see that you are online! As you read Robins many posts and peek into the world of a forum full of questions, I want you to know that I believe that your father was always a warm and honest man when he posted! I loved his online play and his sense of humor.
You have every reason to be proud of him, and I hope that we can all agree that his search for faith was not in vain! May God Bless You and yours during these emotional times and may you and the rest of the family gain new strength through each other!

my thoughts to you as i have stood in your place.
you have but to open your eyes to see what an impact your father has made on this community. and that is the best any of us can hope for... to change those around us for the better. his words and involvement will remain here as long as the site stays and generations of questioning souls may yet be affected by him. may the ability to share the gifts robin gave us all comfort you.

Hey, there's a great tribute to Robin that just got posted at the memorial site, from an EvC lurker who has never signed in here. I recommend going to read it.

He was a bit unique wasn't he? There are plenty of combatants here: on this side or that. Plenty who can put down, ridicule, mock, stand righteously aghast at: you and me included.
But few so even handed, few so rare to flare up in anger. Another sad Robin-moment

But few so even handed, few so rare to flare up in anger. Another sad Robin-moment Me too all the above. Robin was always calm and gentle, rarely said a harsh word to anyone, and when he did it wasn't anywhere near a tantrum such as I've thrown. I had to agree with him when he described me as "volatile." It's a comfort to remember that he liked my "strong personality" but I have to say I've toned down my flame-throwing a lot under his example, and that has to be for the better.

Once we are off the "job" we know how to flare up and tell people to fuck off as much as the next man. Could have been a personality trait on his part rather than training.

As another evcforum lurker, RobinRohan was definitely one of my favourite posters. The post of his that sticks out in my mind the most was one in which he quoted his favourite Shakespeare line (or it might've been his father's favourite). It was the first time I'd read those lines, and the first (and not the last) Shakespeare I enjoyed. Thanks RobinRohan...

LOL. I understand why you say this to Buz..but I suppose it does raise the subject. When people die, it does seem incredibly shocking and awful, the thought that somebody can end. A person with his or her own unique personality. With a whole lifetime of projects and goals and achievements.
I'm not saying this is a time to get your bible out, but personally, I can't believe that a person just ends and that's that. What a horrible world, if every victim never sees paradise, what an awful accident this universe would be. My hopes rest on victims having their reward, and the evil having theirs!! Is that so wrong?

quote: While I gree that RR's passing was sudden, and I feel bad about it, I feel truly bad for his family and the people who really knew and loved him. I don't feel especially bad for him. He doesn't exist anymore. quote: Funny though, that RR himself would say that none of that means anything at all. quote: I can. But mostly I don't think about it at all. There's no use, because it's an utterly unknowable answer while we live. quote: No, it is not wrong, mike. It's very human, in fact. Edited by schrafinator, : No reason given.
