Giuliani did start (and his defence would have been a gift to the prosecution). However he decided that he was a witness, so he stopped.

quote: Trump goes on and on about that in the speech. Almost every mention of the Democrats is accusing them of stealing the election. And let us not forget that there was plenty of hate for Democrats in general and Nancy Pelosi in particular in addition to that. As well as the fact that the Democrats in the House were sure to block any objections that made it past the Senate. The attack was the only way to win.

This really leaves no doubt that Trump approved of the insurrection. And why not? It was his only hope of overturning his electoral defeat. Kevin McCarthy, the lease of the House Republicans called Trump as the insurrectionists attacked, begging him to call them off. Trump’s response:
"Well, Kevin, I guess these people are more upset about the election than you are," Trump said, according to lawmakers who were briefed on the call afterward by McCarthy. "He is not a blameless observer, he was rooting for them," a Republican member of Congress said. "On January 13, Kevin McCarthy said on the floor of the House that the President bears responsibility and he does." "I think it speaks to the former President's mindset," said Rep. Anthony Gonzalez, an Ohio Republican who also voted to impeach Trump last month. "He was not sorry to see his unyieldingly loyal vice president or the Congress under attack by the mob he inspired. In fact, it seems he was happy about it or at the least enjoyed the scenes that were horrifying to most Americans across the country."

As is usual among the fanatics, LNA equates critical thinking with rationalising away arguments that oppose his position. That is why there is so little substance in his post, and nothing clearly relating to to his warning
Real critical thinking is anathema to him, since it exposes exactly what he’s doing, The equation of protest with violence is a favourite of the Right. It’s closely akin to what Trunp’s lawyers are attempting to do with their videos (complete with background music).

quote:You should have begun with an actual example of a politician confusing protest with violence. quote: Of course they do. They say a lot of things that aren’t true.
quote: I think that the actual quotes are a good indication that he did. But of course you don’t deal with the actual evidence. Which is a nice example of my point. You’re not interested in real critical thinking at all.
quote: Because there is good evidence that he did regardless of the transcripts. That you keep ignoring.
quote: Well before Trump told them to go home in peace. I guess you’re following the lead of Trump’s lawyers:
But his lawyers cherry-picked his tweets, focusing on his request for supporters to "remain peaceful" without mentioning that he also attacked Pence and waited hours to explicitly urge rioters to leave the Capitol. Edited by PaulK, : No reason given.

quote: Trump was in favour of overturning the elections and peaceful protests wouldn’t have done that. That was the point of the rally. When he told them they could win he meant overturning the election. If he tells them to be strong are they really going to settle for something completely ineffectual?
quote: That is pretty implausible. Why would he bother? What evidence do you have?
quote: Post riot would obviously be too late. After the riot is over it hardly matters.
quote: There is worse dishonesty on the defence side. There’s even worse dishonesty from you.

In other words you ignore all the contrary evidence. Trump made noises about staying peaceful, but he was the one who stirred up the rioters. He was the one who promised that the event would be wild. He was the one who told them that they could win by staying strong when peaceful protest couldn’t accomplish that.
Several of the rioters - Trump loyalists like you - claim that they were doing what he wanted. If that’s what they understood from his message then it’s obviously possible that’s what he wanted them to get from his message.

quote: Funny how you don’t mention Trump’s incompetent handling of the pandemic. That was the big issue.
quote: A Republican propaganda trick failed. That’s your complaint! That the press saw through the fraud?
quote: If you bother to read the next paragraph he meant a massive electoral defeat for the Republicans.
The bottom line is very simple. We will stand with the American people. We will stand with American women. We will tell President Trump and Senate Republicans, who have stacked the court with right-wing ideologues, that you’re going to be gone in November, and you will never be able to do what you’re trying to do now ever, ever again. You hear that over there on the far right? You’re gone in November. quote: You really think that accepting that people might go to extreme lengths to get rid of a statue is as bad as encouraging the violent overthrow of the Republic? And the fearmongering about Latinos is just racist fearmongering. But I guess you Deplorabkes have to be deplorable.

I stayed in Bacharach a while back and I’ve mentioned the Wernerkapelle here (as well as seeing it). It’s quite an impressive ruin, but the story behind it is chilling.
The usual shape shown for O’Neill colonies is cylindrical - which dies fit with the fictional Babylon stations.

If he’s jailed he’ll be sent to a low-security prison anyway. There won’t be much threat from the other prisoners.

Sidney “Kraken” Powell and Kenneth Chesebro have both taken plea bargains. That is not good news for Trump. Especially Chesebro.

Don’t forget that it was Trump who set up the withdrawal from Afghanistan and he boasted that Biden couldn’t stop it.

It’s hard to say how much of it is good lawyers shunning Trump (because that’s good sense) and how much of it is that he wants his lawyers to act like Habba - and a good lawyer wouldn’t.
