Because that IS exactly the sort of thing your friends are disagreeing with. They think you should work harder and earn the money you need to retire on. And if that isn’t possible that’s your problem.
quote:
Granted, I think in generalizations and cliches, but I dont like the idea of people who expect something for nothing and seek to eliminate the middle class in the interest of helping the poor.
Nobody is planning to eliminate the middle class. That’s insane. Especially since you’re defending your entitlements.

One Canadian commentator was saying that the Republicans doing well in the Senate and the House and in the states is a good thing because those Republicans will be less likely to support any of Trump's shenanigans. "Recount? No, thanks. I won, so let's leave well enough alone."
Another Canadian commentator said on election night that Trump is too much of a coward for any actual confrontation. He'd rather whine about the results than do anything about it.

Really?
While not written in the bible, the seven deadly sins are a list of vices within Christian teachings. They are: pride, greed, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony, and sloth.
Phat, can you name just one of the evil inclinations that Donald Trump does not embody?

I might just spot him envy, on the basis that I can’t imagine he would picture anyone in a position he would view as superior to his own.

Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

Re: ITS ALL OVER...in another Month
Hi Vimesey,
Interesting and humorous slant. But . . .
tRump is on record saying he is envious of the following dictators because they could get results by doing ANYthing without oversight/consequences.
quote:
[Kim] goes in, he takes over, and he’s the boss. It’s incredible. He wiped out the uncle. He wiped out this one, that one. I mean, this guy doesn’t play games.
quote:
[Saddam Hussein] He killed terrorists. He did that so good. They didn’t read them the rights. They didn’t talk. They were terrorists. It was over.
quote:
I just wanted to congratulate you [Rodrigo Duterte] because I am hearing of the unbelievable job on the drug problem. Many countries have the problem, we have a problem, but what a great job you are doing and I just wanted to call and tell you that.
quote:
[Abdel Fattah el-Sisi] has done a fantastic job in a very difficult situation, and I just want to let everybody know, in case there was any doubt, that we are very much behind President el-Sisi.
quote:
[Xi Jinping] He’s now president for life. President for life. No, he’s great. And look, he was able to do that. I think it’s great. Maybe we’ll have to give that a shot some day.
quote:
Hey, [Kim Jong Un is] the head of a country, and I mean, he’s the strong head, don’t let anyone think anything different. He speaks and his people sit up at attention. I want my people to do the same.
Edited by dronestar, : nah, the dictator quotes are enough.

The Omaha district could make all the difference.
The difference between 269 and 270 electoral votes is the difference between the House giving the race to Trump, in the event of no candidate reaching 270, and a Biden win.
Nevada and Arizona will make 270.
Republicans have been trying hard to get rid of the split electoral vote thingy, and only for lack of being able to get a full two-thirds supermajority to end the legislative filibuster in Nebraska. A moderate Republican stopped the 33 to 16 vote to end it in Nebraska's legislature. He said he would not support ending the split electoral vote unless the Medicaid expansion was supported in return. Biden won the Omaha district, and It might make the difference. Only 32 members of the 49 seat unicameral legislature were in support.
Interesting Newsweek has a new article on the only African American member of the Nebraska legislature, namely the long serving Ernie Chambers. A super nice guy, he will help people personally who write to him about government abuses. A wh IU te friend of mine was abused terribly in prison, decades ago, and Chambers got him out early. My friend was a Lincoln resident, meaning Omaha's Ernie Chambers was helping a non constituent. Chambers told my friend to contact him again if he needed any help. He is a man of the people. He only wears a tee shirt, never a blazer. He walks out among the people and is always happy to return a stranger's greeting with a friendly "hey" or hellow.
Biden is winning the popular vote by 3.9 million votes nationally. A true blowout. He will get at least 270 electoral votes, but Nebraska 2 district could be the deciding vote if the minimalist victory is the eventual outcome.

I think a FIRST at least during my lifetime.
All three networks simply cut away from the Presidents Press Conference because he was telling nothing but Porkies.
I cannot remember when a major network simply walked away in the middle of a Presidential Press Conference.

Meanwhile The Apologetic "Prophets" Whom You Call Satanic
Meanwhile, the "Prophets Double Down.
This could cause the greatest division ever seen between the secular progressives and the Biblical Christians. The question is whether Trump has the legal means to do it.
Many dont know this, but Amy Coney Barrett played a minor yet crucial role which decided the 2000 deadlock in Florida between Gore and Dubya.
quote:
Amy Coney Barrett was just three years out of law school, a 28-year-old associate at a boutique Washington law firm, when she was dispatched to Florida to help George W. Bush’s legal team rescue thousands of Republican absentee ballots, the Washington Post reports.
The litigation was a sidebar to the central drama of the 2000 presidential contest, but a loss in the case could have cost Bush the presidency.
At issue were thousands of absentee ballot request forms in Martin County just north of Palm Beach County, home of the notorious ‘butterfly ballot’ that had missing voter registration information.

So how is Trump going to win? So far unsubstantiated accusations of fraud haven’t done well in the courts, and that is his main strategy.
All he is doing is insulting America and democracy.

Another "Prophet" has a dream
Im not saying that I believe in Trump, but I am curious about several things. Do these so-called Prophets actually see anything, and even if they do why on earth would God foresee Trump winning again? As was said above, Trumps actions and personality hardly portray a "Godly" redeemer for America. Though I can also see how God would oppose the seccular progressivism of Harris and AOC.

Lies and corruption conquering the truth is neither justice nor Christian - not anything I think that Jesus would support.

Again you post just plain silly remarks. The division is NOT between secular progressives and the Biblical Christians but between what the Bible actually says plus progressives and the people who pervert Jesus message and call themselves "Biblical Christians".
The difference will remain regardless of the election outcome. It is the difference between REALITY vs fantasy, EVIDENCE vs belief, CONTENT vs source.
And the former always TRUMPS the latter.

I watched Trump last night. The networks cut him off because he was just lying and lying.
The network cut off a president broadcasting from the Whitehouse because he was lying.
That is just utterly extraordinary isn't it? I felt sick. And sad.

Tweets from a non-partisan poll challenger describing what is going on on Detroit.
Republican challengers first tried delaying the count, then challenging every ballot. All while more Trump supporters tried to force their way in.
This is where the Republicans are. Democracy be damned, they must win and any notion of fairness or decency can get in the way.
