Best way to fight a pandemic is to put an anti-vax religious nutjob in charge.
The best way to assure the US is not threatened by any pandemics is to put someone in charge that is a religious nutjob anti-evidence, anti-science, anti-vaxer in charge of our defense and make the first order of business to control the flow of information. Should work well. Edited by jar, : fix sub-title

Re: The Sociological Implications Of Covid-19
One recent headline I saw was predicting 100,00 to 500,00 over age 60 folk might die. We yes, us old farts do tend to die. In fact I am already over the average life expectancy for a male in the US. Fact; old farts do have issues with respiratory problems.

Re: Inadequate containment of the virus
Come on. Isn't the name "Boris" a big enough clue?

Re: Inadequate containment of the virus
"Doc, it's only a scratch And I'll be better, I'll be better, Doc, as soon as I am able" So when a young person has a mild case of covid-19 and goes about daily life and infects lost of older folk ...

To think this is a surprise is foolish
No one should be surprised that a pandemic happened; it was predictable and in fact inevitable. Only willful delusion or criminal negligence can account for the issues existing in the US. It is just like our failing infrastructure, piss poor health care system, abysmal life expectancy, total unpreparedness for extreme fires, floods, rising sea levels, crop failures and soon to come major water shortages. All of these things were obvious to anyone who had any connect to reality and a surprise to only those who are willfully delusional for at least the last half century. We have the world we wanted and will suffer because that is what we chose.

Think of the kids.
Will paid parental leave be available for parents with Pre-K though Middle school aged critters when the schools are closed and for the duration of the closures?

Re: A political side to it
Available next year AT earliest. Every year we try to predict which strains of the annual flu will be the biggest concern and there is still no universal flu vaccine. We already know of at least two different EVOLVED strains of Covid-19. Edited by jar, : no e in flu; stupid spell check

Re: Chinese journalists try to resist censorship
Interestingly it was the medical and logistics people that were excluded while the political and economics folk were given access. Politics and economics take precedence over public health it seems.
