Question: Then why are Republicans so obsessed with Obama's place of birth? Can you answer that question? Pretty simple. It was a way to invalidate his candidacy back then. If it could be proven that he was in fact Kenyan and not a naturalized American, as is a Constitutional provision to be eligible for POTUS, then he would immediately be taken out of the White House. Why it's still a source of contention is a better question... because his presidency is long over. Short of a time machine I don't see the point in arguing over it any longer. Then Ted Cruz would not have been a naturalized American because he was born in Canada. So why in the world did the Republicans let him run in the Republican primaries? The actual law says that you are a naturalized American if one of your parents was born in the US. Since Obama's mother was born in the US . . .

Uh, what? Obama is not and never has been a naturalized citizen, because he is a natural born citizen. A naturalized citizen was not born a citizen, but rather had to apply for citizenship and go through the naturalization process to become naturalized. In Article II, Section 1, The Constitution states:
quote: A naturalized citizen would be ineligible to be President. Obama, like Cruz, was born to an American citizen (the mother in both cases), which qualifies both of them as natural born citizens. Cruz was born in a foreign country, but that does not change the fact that he's a natural born citizen; that's not even a question regarding Obama, since he was born in Hawaii and hence in the USA. The only purpose that birtherism served was to rile up racial hatred against Obama, especially among the rubes who didn't realize that it made no difference and who didn't care. The only reason why it's still around is because the Right needs to keep the hate and the fake outrage stirred up.

The only reason why it's still around is because the Right needs to keep the hate and the fake outrage stirred up. The Left's imputation of motivations to the Right is forever wrong and incendiary. I have no motivation whatever except having been convinced that he was in fact born in Kenya, which is furthered by the Left's crazy ways of responding to the idea. If there is any other kind of motivation, having to do with objections to Obama, it's not racial, it's ideological. I didn't want the man to be President because of his beliefs, nothing to do with his race. Wish you guys could get that much straight. But even that has nothing to do with why I believe he was born in Kenya. Edited by Faith, : No reason given. Edited by Faith, : No reason given.

Ah yes, crazy ways like reality, honesty and facts such as producing the birth certificate. Can't get much crazier than that. Crazy facts like having a mother who is a US Citizen and was a US Citizen before he was born. Yup, those sure are crazy ways to respond alright.

If anyone cares what *I* meant by "crazy ways," instead of jar's revisionist propaganda, see previous posts. Thank you.

Even if he was born in a foreign land he was still, according to the law, a naturalized citizen.
Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts "God did it" is not an argument. It is an excuse for intellectual laziness. If your viewpoint has merits and facts to back it up why would you have to lie?

No. You are a racist.
If you were not you would acknowledge that where he was born has no being on whether he was a natural born citizen or not. Instead you continue to question where he was born. Funny how you do not care about where Ted Cruz was born even though he also ran for President. Your racism is showing. Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts "God did it" is not an argument. It is an excuse for intellectual laziness. If your viewpoint has merits and facts to back it up why would you have to lie?

quote: If that were true then honesty would be the best answer. Telling obvious falsehoods to try to prop up a debunked claim is naturally going to raise suspicions.
quote: No. You weren’t convinced by the evidence, since you have none worth speaking of. And the Left’s response is entirely sensible. As a particularly glaring example you construct a bizarre conspiracy theory about the mailman’s story rather than accept the simple possibility that the mailman was mistaken. Indeed it seems that you think that telling the truth is insane.
quote: Whatever your own motives, it would be foolish to deny that there are racists on the Right and particularly among the Birthers.
quote: Sure. It’s because you think nothing of lying to bring down a democratically elected president. You love it.

Still waiting to see this mistyped birth certificate, that no one but you seems to have ever seen.

I've got it, I'll post it later. Not much to it turns out, but then you'd have guessed that. Anyway, later.

I didn't want the man to be President because of his beliefs, nothing to do with his race. Being born in Kenya would not have stopped him from being President because his mother was an American citizen. So why the obsession with Obama's place of birth?

Then what? He could still run for President and take the oath of office. He still fulfills all of the constitutional qualifications because he was a naturalized citizen due to his mother being born in the US. So why keep pushing this?

He still fulfills all of the constitutional qualifications because he was a naturalized citizen due to his mother being born in the US. Plus he already served 8 years as President and he is now out of office more than 2 years.
