Because discussion is not really focusing on Bible-based arguments for the flood, I'm moving this thread back to the Geology and the Great Flood forum. This is consistent the Coyote's (the originator) original intent as expressed in Message 3. He originally intended the thread as an opportunity for DavidJay to express his views, but they haven't gained any traction in the discussion, and he has proved to be a less active participant than Faith.
Bible-based arguments for dates and events should be fine as long as corroborating real-world evidence is also included.

Please from this point on discuss the history of the flood, i.e., what happened during the flood and when, and how we know. The Bible can be used as a starting point, but corroborating real world evidence must also be supplied.
I wasn't sure if everyone understood that Berthault's experiments are laying down sediments at a steep angle to the horizontal, and that the layers are highly repetitive. I've positioned the video to begin at the portion that shows the angled layers being deposited, watch for about 40 seconds:
In Message 477 Faith describes how each marine transgression deposits layers ever higher, requiring the seas to reach a greater height for each successive transgression, and asks how this ever increasing sea height is possible. There's been no answer.
AbE: I see that PaulK mentions subsidence in Message 493.
AbE2: Explaining the difference of opinion, Faith believes sea transgressions can only result from rising sea levels, while PaulK and Pressie believe subsidence is another cause, thus explaining how a sea transgression can happen on one continent and not another. If isostasy is a factor then it deserves mention in the discussion.
