The poor thing is in the dark on the edge of a cliff. Only getting 90 minutes sun every 12 hours - batteries won't last long apparently.

Will I dream, Dave?
They managed to rotate the lander, so hopefully it can catch more sun, but the move to do this drained much of the reserves and it is now in standby mode - communications only - no science or movement.
There's a chance it'll wake up soon, but it might not be for months.

Too bad they don't have some reflective surfaces on the orbiter that they could use to shine some light on the scene.

Philae has detected organic molecules. They don't know what they are yet.

Rats
Scientists have dealt a blow to the theory that most water on Earth came from comets.
Results from Europe's Rosetta mission, which made history by landing on Comet 67P in November, shows the water on the icy mass is unlike that on our planet.
The results are published in the journal Science.
The authors conclude it is more likely that the water came from asteroids, but other scientists say more data is needed before comets can be ruled out.

They're going to attempt to wake up Philae tomorrow. The comet is closer to the sun and may now be warm enough to communicate.
It might take a few days before we know for sure.

Huge release of Rosetta images paints a spooky picture of comet's rugged landscape

Image Gallery (52 images)
Around seven months after the European Space Agency's Rosetta probe made history by deploying its Philae lander onto the surface 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, an expansive catalogue of images has been released providing an up-close look at the comet's rugged landscape. The photos were snapped by Rosetta's NavCam between September and November last year, as the spacecraft came as close as 8 km (5 mi) from the surface.
The image library published online last week totals 1,776 photos. These were taken as the Philae lander plunged toward to comet's surface and in the days immediately after.
This wouldn't be the Rosetta spacecraft's closest encounter with 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, with a flyby in February bringing it as close as 6 km (3.7 mi) to the surface, where it grabbed images of the Imhotep region, revealing huge rocks and jagged landscapes broken up by flatter areas covered in dust.
The swathe of new images offers a look at the terrain from innumerable new angles, presenting harsh cliff edges cutting into the blackness of space, large boulders and rolling rocky hills that fade into smooth, dusty plains. The collection paints a rather eerie picture of this far away alien landscape.
As always

Re: updated pictures
I really wish there was some kind of reference for scale...
I can't tell how big or small anything is in those pictures.
Still awesome, but they'd be awesomer with a banana, or something, for scale.

They were bloody lucky to land the thing upright at all in that jagged mess.

It's blocked I'll have to see it when I get home.
Both Photobucket and Imgur are blocked here, along with a whole slew of other stuff.

Re: updated pictures
Then you are in for a big treat. Exactly to scale and, no, not just the picture of a banana imposed on the picture. Beautifully, artistically and accurately rendered. A keepsake for the grandchildren.
